President Trump on Wednesday pledged to send even more troops to the border with less than a week to go before the midterm elections. Trump has ginned up fears over a caravan of asylum seeking migrants currently more than 1,000 miles away from the U.S. southern border.

“We’ll do up to anywhere between 10 and 15,000 military personnel, on top of Border Patrol, ICE and everybody else at the border. Nobody’s coming in,” Trump said.

President Trump on Wednesday boasted about the soaring stock market at a jobs event at the White House. But he cautioned that if the midterm elections don’t go Republicans’ way, “I think you’re all going to lose a lot of money.”

“I hate to say that,” Trump continued. I think you’re gonna lose a lot of money. People are waiting on your 401(k)’s and everything else. They’re waiting to see what happens with the midterms. And if it comes out good, like we think it probably will, ’cause there’s a good feeling in the air, there are a lot of people voting, go out and vote. But if it comes out good, I think the market’s gonna continue to go through a period that — like we’ve never seen before.”

Author Tim O’Brien, who wrote “TrumpNation,” on Monday weighed in President Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric, which includes calling himself a “nationalist” and accusing the media of being the “enemy of the people.”

“Dog whistles are silent. This is a fire alarm,” O’Brien said on MSNBC. “There’s nothing quiet. It’s not new. Trump has been engaging in this kind of activity for decades.”
