Hannity Says He’s Only ‘Covering’ Trump Rally: ‘I Will Not Be On Stage Campaigning’

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks during a campaign rally at the Las Vegas Convention Center on September 20, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Trump is in town to support the re-election campaign for U.S. Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) as well as Nevada Attorney General and Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt and candidate for Nevada's 3rd House District Danny Tarkanian and 4th House District Cresent Hardy.

Fox News host Sean Hannity pushed back against a report that he will be one of three special guests at President Trump’s rally in Missouri on Monday evening, claiming in a tweet that he’s only hosting his show at the event and covering the rally.

“Something I have done in every election in the past,” he said

A Fox News spokesperson reiterated the same in an email to TPM on Monday.

Variety reported on Monday that the Trump campaign is, however, promoting the rally as an event that will feature appearances from Hannity, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh and country music singer Lee Greenwood, along with Trump.

As TPM has reported, Hannity got a slap on the wrist in 2016 after he appeared in a Trump video promoting Trump.

Trump and Hannity are reportedly close friends and Trump regularly calls Hannity for advice, leading some White House aides to peg Hannity as Trump’s “shadow” chief of staff.
