Hearing the @RollingStones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want" blaring at a #trump rally made me wonder if @MickJagger would approve.
He doesn't. But trump doesn't care.pic.twitter.com/YZaMoUaLKk

I read that the Stones and a bunch of other artists sent cease and desist notices but that they were just ignored.
-
Honest question: When your at a sporting event and the PA system is playing a song during a break in the action, do you think they have “permission” to be playing the song??
-
My understanding is that such venues must pay a licensing fee in order to use the music they play.
-
They do, same as bars.

He uses these artist’s songs BECAUSE he knows they don’t want him to. Just go down the list.....all of them. He likes to to take things without permission, it’s what he does. “Because when you’re a star they let you do it.”
-
Irish they’dsue him. The Stones never had any problems suing people before.
-
I don’t get why they don’t. They’ve publicly complained, as have Elton John, Neil Young, Rem and likely others I’m not recalling. I know copyright law is not simple but gawwd, this is garbage.
-
It drives me nuts. That's our music NOT HIS..you know it must piss the artists off .. ESP. NEIL!!
-
Yeah. One of my heroes, and not one to be walked over. But certainly one to respect. That, of course, means nothing to trump.
-
And when Neil complained, trump made up some BS story about Neil calling him all the time asking for money.I don’t think Neil is hurting for money.
-
BS. Neil would never call Trump.
-
Too right!!!

Trump fans at rallies are what I imagine public executions in the Middle Ages were like. Or crowds at the Salem Witch trials. Crazed energy that is simultaneously fear based and blood thirsty.
-
Weird because so many have also characterized those two events every time a deranged left-wing mob/antifa gather to "protest". Its as if we're pandering to our own echo chambers...
-
The left isn't sending bombs through the mail, shooting Jewish people at prayer, or running over and killing protesters of hate either.
-
Also not one federally elected dem official supports Antifa. Not to mention repeatedly encouraged by POTUS.
-
But I do take your point about echo chambers and the similarity in the degree of certainty of convictions, desire to criminally punish those on the other side essentially for the crime of being on the other side. Jailing (or executing) the opposition has no place in democracy.
