Publication. Human Development Indicators and Indices: 2018 Statistical Update
Belarus has increased its human development level and took the 53-rd position among 189 countries of the world. More data a new “Human Development Indices and Indicators: 2018 Statistical Update” report.
The report finds that even though the global population increased from 5 billion to 7.5 billion between 1990 and 2017, the number of people in low human development fell from 3 billion to 926 million—or from 60 percent of the global population to 12 percent—and that the number of people in high and very high human development more than tripled, from 1.2 billion to 3.8 billion—or from 24 percent of the global population to 51 percent.
What we do
UNDP has been working in Belarus since 1992, most recently under its Country Programme Document (CPD) 2016-2020. The current CPD focuses on three priority areas in line with the national development priorities:
- Stronger systems of inclusive and responsive governance;
- Greener growth incorporating productive capacities that target employment and create livelihoods for vulnerable groups;
- Better access to basic services for vulnerable groups.
