  1. Visitors & recreationists are reminded that park rescue operations may be limited by reduced staff, severe weather, & limited helicopter use this time of year. Please consider experience, be prepared for self-rescue, & have appropriate skills & equipment for each activity. (3/3)

  2. A second call from another bystander was received & additional information was communicated that the injured visitor was in the water, shivering significantly and possibly hypothermic and unable to move due to injuries. (2/3)

  3. Grand Teton rangers conducted an early evening short-haul rescue at Hidden Falls on Sat, Oct 13. Teton Interagency Dispatch received a call at approx 4:45 p.m. on Sat from a bystander indicating someone had fallen & needed help at Hidden Falls. Info: (1/3)

    The full HWY closures at Arizona Creek on October 16 & 23 have been canceled. Visitors should expect 15-minute delays in this area through November 3 as construction crews continue working. The construction schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions & other factors.

    Oct 22, the northern portion of the Moose-Wilson Rd, between Murie Ranch JCT & Death CYN JCT, will close for the season due to construction of roadside pullouts. Oct 31 will be the final day the road is open to vehicle traffic for the season. Info: (2/2)

    The unpaved section of the Moose-Wilson Rd in Grand Teton will be temporarily closed for road grading 8PM Wed, Oct 17 & will reopen by 6AM Thur, Oct 18. If the road work is not completed during this night, the road will also be closed the following night, same timeframe. (1/2)

    Visitors are reminded that feeding wildlife creates a safety risk for humans as animals associate people with food; bears can also become aggressive in seeking additional food, especially when preparing to den for the winter. (6/6)

    The adult female, approx 4-5 years of age, was not a good candidate for an educational or zoo facility & was euthanized. The cubs are being relocated to Oswald Bear Ranch in Newberry, Michigan. (4/6)

    Due to the bears’ comfort with humans in developed areas, &, most importantly, behaviors that associated humans with food, posing an unacceptable risk to public safety, the 3 bears were captured and removed from the park. (3/6)

    The bears, a sow & 2 cubs of the year, each received several food rewards during the incident and made contact with several vehicles along the road. The maximum penalty for feeding park wildlife is a $5,000 fine and up to six months in jail. (2/6)

    Two visitors to Grand Teton were recently cited for illegally feeding wildlife within the park. On Thur, Oct 4, visitors in two separate vehicles along the Signal Mtn Rd were observed feeding fruit to 3 black bears. Info: (1/6)

    Fire restrictions are rescinded on Federal lands in the area. Due to widespread precipitation, cooler temperatures, and shorter days across the region, the fire danger has decreased. Everyone is reminded to always be cautious with fire.

    Two 2-hour closures of the highway are planned for Tuesday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 23. Closures will occur mid-morning and mid-afternoon each day, with time between the closures for one-way traffic access through the area. (2/4)

    Grand Teton, in coordination with Federal Highway Admin, is conducting maintenance work at several bridge locations along US HWY 89/287, in the northern area of the park. Work will involve a temporary highway closure at Arizona Creek, approx 5 miles north of Colter Bay. (1/4)
