The Conference Online

The International AIDS Conference, the world’s foremost international conference on HIV and AIDS, provides a critical platform for presenting new research, promoting dialogue and building consensus to advance the global response against HIV. These conferences continue to be very powerful tools through which all key stakeholders collaborate to advance the response.

In this rapidly changing world where the latest technology not only serves as an amplifier, but also as an equalizer, and where new and upcoming innovations can harness the power and knowledge of people who live and work in both developed and developing countries the information shared at the conference can reach an even bigger audience than the 14,000 delegates who attend the six day event. This can be achieved by utilising new communication technologies, enabling us to connect and mobilize an even larger population. AIDS 2014 organizers are committed to using the newest online technologies to enable HIV professionals to access the cutting-edge research policy discussions and HIV news available in an open and global way, exponentially increasing the impact of the conferences. By making the best use of new technologies and by empowering those at the local level to be heard at the global level conference organizers can help create a network of knowledge that transcends all boundaries and empowers all those active or interested in becoming involved in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

All levels of the HIV epidemic need to be reflected in the discussions, therefore efficient ways of sharing information up from the ground, and down from the high level groups, is required to ensure that the outcomes are realistic, feasible and transferable at the programme level. This will lead to more thorough analysis being made available to policymakers and will translate into more effective and efficient policies and programmes.
