Volunteering at AIDS 2014

The success of the AIDS 2014 Conference depends heavily on the support of around 1000 volunteers. If you would like to gain a unique and unforgettable experience by being part of the AIDS 2014 Volunteer Team along with other motivated individuals, we invite you to read the information below which addresses questions about eligibility, duties, and benefits!

Are you…
  • at least 18-years-old as of 16 July 2014
  • available for a minimum of three (3) half-day shifts* from 16 July to 25 July 2014
  • fluent in English (any additional languages are an asset)
  • able to take care of your own travel arrangements (if you are not based in Melbourne, this includes visa, flight tickets, accommodation)
Your role will involve…
  • helping to plan the world’s largest conference on HIV/AIDS
  • coordinating programme activities
  • greeting the expected 14,000 local and international delegates
  • assisting with registration and act as a guide during the event
  • helping in the Global Village – a diverse and vibrant space where communities gather from all over the world to meet, share experiences, and learn from each other
  • performing other crucial tasks to make the AIDS 2014 conference a real success!

How to volunteer

Volunteers who can commit to a maximum number of shifts will be prioritized.

Volunteers from outside Australia

Persons from countries other than Australia seeking to volunteer at AIDS 2014 will be required to meet the Australian customs and immigration requirements for visitors.

The conference secretariat is unfortunately not able to offer any financial assistance or Letters of Invitation to help with visas. Volunteers are responsible for their own accommodation and travel costs. It is the sole responsibility of the volunteer to take care of his/her visa requirements.
