The Twitter Moments’ feature showcases the best of the stories unfolding live on Twitter. It makes it easy for users to experience only-on Twitter conversations and get the most out of the platform, regardless of which accounts they follow or don’t. The Twitter Curation team, which is responsible for Moments, sits within Twitter’s Global Business & Product Partnerships team, which works directly with media companies and high-profile users across sports, politics, entertainment, music, and news and delivers the best content that reaches, engages, and delights the largest daily audience in the world.

 

We’re looking for a skilled editorial manager to lead the Tokyo and Sydney Moments teams, which are responsible for identifying the best Tweets, photos, and videos around the biggest real-world events and high-profile opportunities for English-speaking and Japanese-speaking markets. The ideal candidate has solid experience managing in a digital newsroom, is passionate about people development and is familiar with using Twitter content to craft stories. They would be willing to be located in either Tokyo or Sydney for work.

Candidates will need to be available to work weeknights and weekends where necessary.

  • Driving a Curation strategy for content experiences that highlight the best content on Twitter and measurably resonate with Twitter’s users

  • Helping to develop and improve upon Curation workflows

  • Improving cross-language and cross-team collaboration

  • Engaging and retaining a high-performing team that has the ability to do their best work every day, is provided meaningful feedback and development opportunities and can collaborate and manage through conflict effectively


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive quarterly goals and a long-term vision for the Moments teams in Tokyo and Sydney

  • Build, motivate, and develop a team of experienced Curators with various language capabilities

  • Provide inspiration to the team to inject creativity in daily work and projects

  • Track metrics of success and hold self and team to a the highest quality standard

  • Focus on continuous tool and process improvement to increase curation efficiency

  • Collate and provide product feedback to the Moments development team

  • Collaborate with the Moments leads across all regions and languages to ensure consistency, alignment, and support as a global function

  • Collaborate and partner with the local Content Partnerships teams to create a holistic strategy to drive revenue growth and user engagement


Qualifications:

  • BA/BSc degree or equivalent education

  • Written and verbal fluency in English; Japanese speakers preferred

  • 10+ years of experience working in journalism

  • 5+ years of experience leading large teams; experience with managing managers and remote team members a plus

  • Expertise and passion for coaching and developing individuals and managers

  • Experience managing editorial in one or more content areas (News, Sports, Entertainment, Music, etc)

  • Experience leading editorial composed of social media content strongly preferred

  • Extensive experience in using Twitter— preferably as a tool in reporting

  • Experience with newsgathering tools like Tweetdeck, Curator, Dataminr for News, etc.

  • Journalism qualification or equivalent experience
