How to set up an SMS PIN

If you're concerned about someone spoofing your account you can choose to prefix your mobile updates and commands with a short PIN (short for "personal identification number"). For security reasons, only you should know your PIN.

First, make sure your mobile device is attached to your Twitter Account.
Log in to your Twitter account on the web and go to your Mobile settings.
Enter your desired PIN (as shown below). Note: your PIN should be 4 characters long and only consist of alphanumeric characters.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Save changes.
If your PIN is accepted you will see a confirmation message.

Using your PIN

If you have enabled a PIN for your account, you will need to insert your PIN before the body of the Tweet or SMS command you send to your Twitter short code.

If you forget to insert your PIN before entering the text of your message, you will receive a message back stating Your PIN is invalid. If you receive this message, simply resend your SMS with your PIN at the beginning.

Changing or deleting your PIN

Go to your Mobile settings.
In the PIN field, you can change or even delete your PIN altogether.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Save changes.

What do I do if I forgot my PIN?

If you have forgotten your PIN you can simply log into twitter.com via the web and check in your Mobile Settings. Your most current PIN will be displayed.
