Hazardous Surf Warning for New South Wales
Issued at 3:05 am EST on Thursday 4 October 2018
for the period until midnight EST Friday 5 October 2018.
Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities
such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming in the following areas.

Hazardous Surf Warning for:
Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast and Illawarra Coast
Safety Advice
NSW Police Force, Marine Area Command advise that:
- People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near
surf-exposed areas.
- Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek
a safe location that is sheltered from the surf.
- Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing
or delaying their voyage.
- Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and
wear a lifejacket.
- Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base,
via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management
plan.
The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EST Thursday.

The hemispheric long wave pattern has remained stable in recent weeks. There are four main troughs. Currently the most significant troughs are near the longitudes of the Indian Ocean, New Zealand, the south Pacific, and the Atlantic Ocean.
Summary:
Over southern and eastern Australia the cold front events with potential to bring widespread rain are now expected about 16 October to 20 October, 21 October to 25 October, and 5 November to 9 November. Rain events originating in the tropics and moving south are possible about 13 October to 17 October. Over Western Australia the strongest cold fronts should occur about 18 October to 22 October, 29 October to 2 November, and 5 November to 9 November.
