'Rangey McRange Face' among suggestions for new Queensland road
The Toowoomba Second Range Crossing would be renamed Rangey McRange Face if some Queenslanders had their way.
More than 450 submissions have been received by Transport and Main Roads, with Rangey McRange Face and Roady McRoad Face among the ideas.
The ideas appear to pay homage to Boaty McBoatface, which was proposed during a competition to name a scientific vessel in Britain in 2016.
Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the process was not about selecting the name with the highest number of nominations but about choosing the right name.
"We have received a few Rangey McRange Face and Roady McRoad Face submissions, which, I'm told, does not have the support of the Toowoomba Regional Council mayor, Paul Antonio," he said.
There have also been several names submitted that acknowledged the region's history, landscape, tourism and people.
Mr Bailey said most of the submissions so far were for the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing road, with the viaduct and twin arch bridges also open to suggestions.
Submissions close at close of business on Friday.
The Toowoomba Second Range Crossing is due to open in 2019.
