Eight days after the 2016 election, I dreamt this. Today, I know what it meant.

This just came back to me. TMI, I sent this to my ex-husband at the very end of our marriage, when he was already with someone else. Oh, my heart. But it turns out it wasn't for him. Open the box. Put your arms around one another. Hey sisters: find it.

I'm a part of circles of women who have run core practices, in person and with long lost traditions, to evict this American nightmare. 18 months ago, we had no idea of the depth and breadth of what we were up against. Not so now. And that should scare the shit out of them.

Is there anyone who legit believes Kavanaugh didn't have some liquid courage on the morning of that screaming screed? The tape. His face. Gah.

  5. I was arrested today in front of The Supreme Court because I believe women, I believe survivors and I believe Dr. Ford. I was arrested today because women have been fighting against sexual violence with little support from men for far too long. Gentlemen, we must show up.

I'm not in the habit of bashing other lawyers for the cause, but I will say that Dr. Ford's lawyers submitting affidavits from other witnesses now is way too little, way too late. We needed this ten days ago, just like we needed her in front of media.

I will never forget her face, in that pale pink suit, as she decided for herself that "gang rape" wasn't a legit accusation against a man of privilege.

  10. Something I think about a lot is that the longest serving Republican speaker in American history turned out to be a child molester. And basically everyone who worked with him thought he was a great guy.

Don't walk away from the fantasies we've all had about those men on the Hill in the last 24 hours. Don't abandon your hatred. Ancestors are speaking through us. Our obligation, now and ever more, is to LISTEN. /end

The time for waffling is over. The time for comfort is over. Lives are on the line. You are either with Susan Collins, or you are with Alicia Garza. You are either an ally or you are part of the problem. No more nicety. And if that scares you, turn to your rage.

You say all the things you know you should have always been saying, and you SHOW UP for women of color and people of color and marginalized voices and you recognize your safety and your privilege and you LEVERAGE IT, ALWAYS, FOREVER MORE.

This means you don't excuse white men for ANYTHING in their usual bullshit, and you hold yourself accountable to not being comfortable to the detriment of anyone else. You choose to align yourselves with white men ONLY when they are demonstrable allies.

Failure to confront our own biases will not only result in failure but it will end democracy. For the white women: we're at a turning point--time to choose. Either throw your lot in with whiteness, or get ready to be uncomfortable and release privilege for the betterment of all.

Make no mistake: this will require better organization than we've ever had before and a willingness for leaders to rise. Each of us is going to have to take responsibility for mobilizing in our communities and for coalition-bldg that demands our best (looking at you white womn).

And WE make the army--leaders, generals and priestesses alike--as long as we are willing to listen and build and fight. Make no mistake about it: I don't care if it all ends in ashes as long as what comes next allows nothing like what happened today to ever happen again.

I'm going to center on people with a history of fighting for justice, people invested in equity, people who know what it means to fight, people who are relentless. I don't give a fuck where they come from or whether they're "experienced." I'm looking at a coalition of warriors.

I spent the afternoon immersed in various forms of my own personal therapy. I'm back and I'm ready to tear some shit up. And I'm just gonna say it: I'm not backing another politician, ever again, who isn't willing to set shit on fire and burn down white supremacist patriarchy.

  21. Honored to have spoken to the Hamilton County Ohio Democratic Party. Very enthusiastic crowd on a tough night for Dems. Great support for the future. Best part: nobody believes the Collins/GOP attacks. Onward and upward.
