Insane. In Canada, teachers receive excellent pay, excellent benefits including a pension.

I'm moving out to Canada then...

They also have basic universal healthcare. :-)
-
Well... As long as they don't take ages for the doctor to see you.. I'm OK with it...
-
You don't. I usually get an appointment same day or I'm referred to my health teams after hours clinic.

One person's situation is not an indication what it's like to be an entire group of anything, anywhere. I know several teachers, and this is not what it's like for ANY of them. This is hyperbole, and ultimately FAKE news. You are damaging your trusted reputation. Just stop!

IF YOU CAN READ THIS
@TIME ARTICLE THANK A TEACHER. I can't wait to buy this used online. (I have to pinch my pennies, I have a Bachelors degree and have been working for the same school district for a solid 28 years so obviously I have to pinch my pennies.) -
My mom taught me how to read. I read and understood every word in the book "Carrie" by
@StephenKing when I was 3 years old. All by myself. I also taught myself how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide by double digits a year later with the help of a Texas Instruments keyboard. -
By the age of 6 I was writing simple computer programs like hangman using Basic, QBasic, and GWBasic. Again, no need to thank a teacher. I figured it out for myself.

So how is it to live in a void?

Shilling for followers and donations on profile page too. Presumably not donations of teacher supplies.

I think we may have misjudged Monday. The donations are for charity.pic.twitter.com/dTppi3Cj3B

I'm a Portuguese teacher and although we aren't happy campers, we're paid decent wages. We would love this arrangement!
-
I asked my favorite teacher in 1977, (thinking about going into it as a vocation) is it a good paying job? She simply stated, I do it because I love it. I'd be paid more if I were babysitting all of you each day. So your comment means things haven't changed in 40 years. SAD!

People think as teachers we have it "so easy" because we have weekends, holidays, and summers off contractually. However, what they don't realize we are working extra duty (coaching, summer school etc.) or a second, sometimes 3rd job just to make ends meet!
-
When I was teaching, people commented how easy I had it because I finished at 3, never taking into account prep & grading. I worked many 18 hr days. They thought there was something wrong with me that I couldn't finish in a normal 8 hrs, and yeah had summers off.
-
Dont forget paying out of pocket for materials and all the weekend educator enrichment workshops! Everytime someone says "i need to complete my hours" my chest tightens
