Revolution, counter-revolution, fear-mongering and manipulation
Where there is a revolution there is an attempt at counter-revolution. It would be rather naïve to think that after the revolution in Armenia, the forces who still have much to lose from the popular uprising and shift in the power balance would submit without resistance. What Armenian society witnessed immediately after the revolution was the show of a reluctant white flag of peace and temporary surrender by the old regime, an ingenuine and cynical: “We were wrong; you are right.” The translation: “We’ll see and good luck (with a fearful, evil smirk)!” What the old regime did wrong, when or how, would still be a mystery if we were to wait for a voluntary admission of guilt, a frank sense of accountability, or a smidgen of repentance.

“It is true, we see authoritarianism being on the rise. And it is important to transfer into civil society. It’s important to have people and namely young people that are able to come together and to show that democracy, freedom, հuman rights are extremely important for our societies. We just had, recently, a fantastic example of a peaceful transition that was led by youth, Armenia. There was a peaceful governmental transition led by a youth movement and these are fantastic examples to show that there are reasons to hope that the youth generation would be able to do better than my own generation,” Guterres said.

Ով հաղթեց և ով պարտվեց Երևանի ընտրություններում
Եվ այսպիսով, ավարտվեցին Երևանի ընտրությունները: Փորձեմ ներկայացնել առաջին տպավորություններս ընտրությունների կապակցությամբ: Բայց նախ մասնակցության մասին: Դեռ վերջնական թվերը չկան, բայց, կարծես, անկհայտ է, որ մասնակցությունն առնվազն ավելի ցածր չէ, և անգամ մի քանի տոկոսով ավելի բարձր է, քան անցյալ տարի: Եվ սա այն պայմաններում, երբ մարդիկ, ի տարբերություն նախորդ ընտրությունների, քվեարկել են «անվճար»: Արդեն իսկ շատ խոսվել է այն մասին, որ նախորդ ընտրություններում մասնակցությունն ուռճացվել կամ խթանվել է տարբեր ապօրինի մեթոդներով: Բացի այդ, կա ընտրացուցակների և Երևանի իրական բնակչության համապատասխանության խնդիր: Գաղտնիք չէ, որ շատ երևանցիներ մշտական կամ սեզոնային բնակվում են արտերկրում, բայց գրանցված են Երևանում, շատերն էլ ապրում են Երևանում, բայց ունեն Հայաստանի այլ վայրերի գրանցում: Այնպես որ, ընտրության արդյունքները բավականին ներկայացուցչկական են և հնարավորություններ են տալիս հետևություններ անել հանրության տրամադրությունների մասին:

Նախնական տվյալներով «Իմ քայլը» դաշինքն ամենաշատ ձայնն է հավաքել
Կենտրոնական ընտրական հանձնաժողովն (ԿԸՀ) ամփոփում է Երևանի ավագանու ընտրությունների նախնական արդյունքները: Ըստ որի՝ 65 տեղամասերից ստացված արդյունքների համաձայն՝ առաջատար է «Իմ քայլը» դաշինքը՝ հավաքած 82.62% ձայներով:ԿԸՀ-ի նախնական ամփոփումը ստորև.

Սեպտեմբերի 23-ին՝ Երևանի ավագանու ընտրության օրը, ՍիվիլՆեթի ուղիղ եթերի հյուրն էր Գյումրիի ժուռնալիստների Ասպարեզ ակումբի նախագահ Լևոն Բարսեղյանը։ Բարսեղյանն ընտրությունների ավարտից հետո Թաթուլ Հակոբյանի հետ ամփոփում է քվեարկության ընթացքը, համեմատում նախորդ ընտրությունների հետ։

Երևանի ավագանու ընտրություններին նախնական տվյալներով մասնակցել է 370.323 քաղաքացի
Այսօր` սեպտեմբերի 23-ին ընթացող Երևանի ավագանու ընտրություններն ավարտվեցին 20:00-ին:Ըստ Կենտրոնական ընտրական հանձնաժողովի նախնական տվյալների՝ քվեարկությանը մասնակցել է ընտրելու իրավունք ունեցող 848.343 քաղաքացիների 43.65%-ը կամ 370 323 ընտրող։Ըստ վարչական շրջանների նախնական արդյունքներն են՝
Աջափնյակ վարչական շրջանում քվեարկելու իրավունք ունեցող քաղաքացիների թիվը 85.192 է, որոնցից քվեարկությանն արդեն մասնակցել է 38.878-ը կամ 45.64 տոկոսը,

«Կարող է տարօրինակ թվալ, որ իշխող քաղաքական ուժը Երևանի ավագանու ընտրություններում ստանում է այդքան ձայն, բայց բոլորդ գիտեք, որ այս ընտրություններին առանձնահատուկ քաղաքական կոնտեքստ էր հաղորդվել. ես խնդրել էի այս ընտրություններում «Իմ քայլը» դաշինքի օգտին քվեարկելով քվեարկել նաև Ազգային ժողովի արտահերթ ընտրությունների օգտին կամ ընդդեմ դրա»,- ասել է Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը` հավելելով, որ առաջիկայում բանակցություններ կհրավիրի խորհրդարանական և ոչ խորհրդարանական քաղաքական ուժերի հետ` քննարկելու խորհրդարանական արտահերթ ընտրությունների ժամանակացույցն ու պայմանները»:

Justin Trudeau to Travel to Armenia for Francophonie Summit
Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, announced on September 21 that he will be traveling to Yerevan, Armenia, from October 11 to 13, to attend the XVII Francophonie Summit. This will be Trudeau’s first official visit to Armenia.Held every two years, the Francophonie Summit gathers Heads of states of all member countries of the International Organization of the Francophonie around the themes of discussion. The year’s theme is “Living together in solidarity, shared humanistic values, and respect for diversity: a source of peace and prosperity in La Francophonie.”

A revolution? Yes, sure, but not an end
It is worth pondering on why there was a revolution in Armenia; it’s not a bad idea to remember sometimes. We can only assume that people felt something was gravely wrong. Something so wrong, that they had no fear of beating in broad daylight, no fear of mass arrests, no fear of heavy-handed external intervention, and finally, no fear of death. As a friend suggested about a year before the revolution, “they have managed to keep us subjugated and in fear since March 1, 2008.” Well, no more.

Former Top Turkish Lobbyist Detained in Armenia
In February 2013, Kemal Oksuz attended then recently re-elected President Obama’s State of the Union speech and before that a $30,000 a person dinner to get a photo op with the president. Three months later, he organized and partly bankrolled a visit by 317 American politicians from 42 states to the event hosted by Azerbaijani ruler Ilham Aliyev. The guests included ten incumbent members of Congress, retired Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Neb.), Bush-era deputy defense secretary and later World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz, as well as former Obama aides, making it the biggest such junket Baku ever hosted. Oksuz shared a podium with David Plouffe, election strategist credited with Obama’s success.

What to Expect from German Leader’s First-Ever visit to Armenia
On the eve of Merkel’s visit, Azerbaijani emigres in Germany plan to stage a protest in Berlin to highlight the regime’s domestic abuses. Last week, possibly not coincidentally, Azerbaijan’s most prominent political prisoner, politician Ilgar Mamedov, was released after five years behind bars. Additionally, a major German weapons producer Rheinmetall recently expressed interest in doing business with Azerbaijan. Until now, German companies have not engaged in defense sales with either Azerbaijan or Armenia, because of the military conflict over Karabakh.

The Armenian Anomaly
The revolution of April 2018 should not look so unexpected. All its structural ingredients have been in place and waiting for activation. Still, the revolution came as a surprise of gigantic force. If there exists one common trait in all revolutions, it is that they always surprising. In the hindsight, one can see that this revolution had a very typical running-up period of seemingly lost popular hopes feeding the smug arbitrariness of rulers. First, the ruling Republican party of Serzh Sargsyan used the 2015-16 atmosphere of public disillusionment and apathy to fortify its formal positions by changing the constitution in a dubiously legitimate referendum. This turned Armenia into parliamentary republic with nearly regal powers accorded to prime-minister.
