You want to grow your user base and make Twitter worth investing in, but you are actively stopping people from experiencing Twitter the way they want. This is a terrible idea that will make you lose thousands of users.

You know, if you had a real replacement for 3rd parties using your API, then there wouldn’t be any interruption. But as is, you discontinue the local client for macOS, and so we all go to a working app, Tweetbot, which you’re attempting to brick.

You do know that when you break third party apps a lot of very engaged users are going to spend less time on your platform, right? You have to know this.

Good point. I am myself a 3rd party app user through Aeries. But many are installing official Twitter apps. They want us to see their ads.

It’s impossible to avoid disruption, because Tweetbot or other third party clients are the only sensible way to view Twitter on a Mac.
