Hey! Guess what -- we're back (kinda but not really)! We fired up the ol' podcast machine because we wanted to tell you to listen to new podcast called "Transmissions from Hawaii" (
For the past 1/2 year I've been working on a new #podcast. This is the most difficult & time consuming #audio project I've worked on but ep 1 is now out! PLEASE give it a shot. It's about wild #chickens in #Hawaii!
The episode we've shared is Episode 3 - Cracking the Mac Nut, which talks about Hawaii's unique relationship with the ono-est of nuts; and how that relationship ties Polynesia with Oceania. 4/
If you click the link above, you'll hear about 5 minutes of Josh and Ryan bantering (*wistful stare back to the good old days*), followed by an actual episode of Transmissions from Hawaii. 3/
Transmissions from Hawaii tells stories about Hawaii in a unique and interesting way. It's like a Hawaii-specific version of This American Life, whereas we were (are? could be?!) a Hawaii-specific version of angry white Lefties ranting about the failures of capitalism. 2/
If you're spending $740,000,000,000 annually on "defense" but fascists dressed for the renaissance fair can still storm the Capitol as they please, maybe it's time to rethink national security?
Chicago police union president John Catanzara expressed sympathy with pro-Trump extremists who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday: “If the worst crime here is trespassing, so be it. But to call these people treasonous is beyond ridiculous and ignorant.”http://ow.ly/AzkY50D2Eh9
“This is not America,” a woman said to a small group, her voice shaking. “They’re shooting at us. They’re supposed to shoot BLM, but they’re shooting the patriots.”
It's taken our finest Public Intellectuals most of the day to find a way to Both Sides the seizure of the US Capitol by right wing insurrectionists, but happily they've done it. Everything's going to be OK now. https://twitter.com/thomaschattwill/status/1346968129528848384…
the Blue Lives Matter fantasy is that the weak libs will come pleading to them for help when the hordes are at their door, but what if the cops just sort of let the hordes in first
"Violence is always unacceptable. But it's also really fun to think about and kind of tacitly encourage, it gets people fired up. But also it's unacceptable. So that's a complicated thing. Anyway I'm in a bunker right now for unrelated reasons."
Violence is always unacceptable. Even when passions run high.
Anyone engaged in violence—especially against law enforcement—should be fully prosecuted.
God bless the Capitol Police and the honorable men & women of law enforcement who show great courage keeping all of us safe.
Make no mistake: Trump will not stop until he is stopped. It's not that he won't; it's that a personality like his can't. He is feral and dangerous, and pretending he has hit bottom is a terrible mistake. There is always a new low to which he can sink.
Someone was shot dead just a few hundred feet away from where Ben Sasse was standing when he said “shovel your neighbors driveway” as a solution with a straight face. A bit iconic methinks.
