Victoria University (VU) offers student housing to accommodate students of the University and provides a range of information and support services to assist you with every aspect of your accommodation search.

If you have never lived out of home, or wish to live in a university environment, choosing to live in our student accommodation may be a great option for you. Here, you can meet people from all around the world and get involved in social and academic activities.

Benefits of living near campus

Our student housing is in a convenient and friendly apartment block, less than 7km from the heart of Melbourne, close to public transport and Highpoint Shopping Centre. It's just a short walk to classes at our Footscray Park Campus giving you easy access to on-campus facilities and services including:

  • the University library
  • bookshop
  • cafeterias
  • sporting facilities including a gym and indoor swimming pool
  • classes
  • support services.

In addition, student housing is safe and secure, with many fun-packed student residence only events, trips and recreation facilities onsite.

Living across the road from our Footscray Park Campus (and a short distance from Footscray Nicholson Campus) gives you the chance to meet people from all around the world and get involved in social and academic activities from a comfortable home base.

UniLodge @ VU student housing

UniLodge @ VU opened in February 2016. This luxury 12-storey student-housing complex offers studio apartments, 2 bedroom and 6 bedroom share apartments to rent.

Fully furnished with study rooms, outdoor leisure spaces, on-site cafe and a theatre, UniLodge @ VU offers you a first-class living experience across the road from our Footscray Park Campus. It's just a short walk to Footscray Nicholson Campus and the Footscray Railway station is only two stops to the city and our City Flinders Campus.

Living at UniLodge @ VU, you will have the opportunity to mix and meet other VU students and have access to VU's Footscray Park Campus services and facilities.

This new 500 bed complex is part of the Footscray University Town collaboration with Maribyrnong City Council, focused on the development of a diverse, vibrant, creative arts precinct in Footscray.

Resident advisors

Studying at uni can be a challenge, especially if you're new to Melbourne. Our friendly team of Resident Advisors (senior students who have been through the same thing) are here to support you in your transition to university life and living away from home. Whether you're feeling homesick or just want help maintaining a good balance between study, work and your social life, our residence staff can help.

University residences parking

Residents of UniLodge @ VU require a University Residences (UR) Permit. This permit allows parking in P Ticket areas and E Permit zones only.

You can apply for:

  • 3 month UR permit A$192.50
  • 6 month UR permit A$385
  • 12 month UR permit A$750.

Payment is required on application and permits are non-refundable.
