Rumah Cemara is a civil service organisation established in Indonesia in 2003. Their main goal is to improve the quality of life of a targeted group of key people, so that they can live without stigma or discrimination, have equal access to quality health services, are protected under right-based laws and have opportunities for development. The key beneficiaries include People Who Use Drugs, Men who have Sex with Men, Transgender people, who may also be sex workers, youth, women, children from other marginalised groups and People Living with HIV. Their main activities include mobilising and organising key population communities, campaigns, establishment of treatment centres, mobile health clinics, capacity building of community institutions, service providers and like-minded Community Based Organisations (CBOs) along with advocacy on justice sector reforms.
Rumah Cemara is one of the Voice Grantees. The Voice Linking and Learning project aims to facilitate spaces where marginalized communities explore ways in which they can harness their creativity and turn their aspirations into actions with real social impact.
