  1. Grand Teton National Park staff will be working on the pathways within the park this week, providing routine maintenance and repairs. Impacts to cyclists and pedestrians will be minimal, but you may need to stop and walk around the work activities.

  4. The entire Moose-Wilson road is open. The northern section of the road was temporarily closed due to bear activity. Please note that the unpaved section of the road is planned to be closed Wednesday night, 8 p.m. through 6 a.m. Thursday morning for road grading.

    The northern section of Moose-Wilson Rd, between Murie Ranch JCT & Death Canyon JCT, is temporary closed to all visitors due to grizzly bears in the area. The LSR Preserve & Death Canyon Trailhead can be accessed from the south. Rangers will reopen the road when conditions allow.

    Beginning tomorrow, the park will be conducting bridge work & bank stabilization at Spread Creek along Hwy 89, about 4 miles south of Moran JCT. Expect up to 15-min delays between 7am-7pm through the fall. Delays will occur when materials & equipment are being loaded or unloaded.

    There are no fire restrictions at this time, but everyone is asked to practice heightened fire safety at all times. Operators of unmanned aircraft systems, UAS or drones, are reminded that flying near a wildfire is prohibited, and illegal. Info: (2/2)

    The fire danger rating for Grand Teton National Park, Bridger-Teton National Forest and Teton Interagency Dispatch Area has increased to Very High. Conditions in the area are drying quickly and a fire may start easily, spread quickly and burn intensely. (1/2)

    Social science researchers are studying park visitors at the String and Leigh lakes area of the park. We are learning from this research and will use it to improve visitor use management and provide high quality visitor experiences in this area. More at .

    A cattle drive will take place Sat morning, Aug 18, in Grand Teton. Expect a travel delay between approx 7 a.m. & 8 a.m. as a 2 mile stretch of US HWY 26/89/191 will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic from Moran JCT to the Elk Ranch Flats area. Info:

    The Moose-Wilson Road is open, as the grizzly bears have moved on, for now. This photo from Sunday shows the bears getting their fill of berries. The narrow road with dense vegetation does not allow for safe distance between people & bears. Be Bear Aware-

    Hidden Falls & Lower Inspiration Pt are open. The area was closed July 10 out of an abundance of caution & concern that a rock could come loose and fall onto the area. We completed a risk assessment & determined that a smaller closure area is appropriate.

    Grand Teton is participating in an interagency training exercise this evening with Jackson Hole Fire and EMS. The training exercise will be from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and located east of Moran Junction along the highway. Thanks to our employees and partners for their service!
