The Italian Government contributes 2.4 million Euro to Somalia under a United Nations (UN) Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) agreement to support national governance, aid delivery and youth employment programmes.
The initiative will help to ensure the sustainability of the livelihoods, environment and resources of the Western Indian Ocean.
It is aimed that the constitutional review process will lead to a permanent constitution of Somalia, to replace a provisional constitution adopted in 2012.
At the opening of a two-day, UN-supported conference on charcoal in Mogadishu, the Federal Government of Somalia has called for international, African and Gulf States cooperation in halting the illegal export of charcoal from the country.
As part of work to increase alternatives to charcoal, over 600 LPG gas cylinders, 300 fuel-efficient cooking stoves, and 20 tons of briquettes was handed over to the Federal Government, supported by funding from the European Union (EU)
