Joseph Vinoy (10 August 1803, Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, Isère – 27 April 1880, Paris) was a French soldier.
He originally intended to join the Church, but, after some years at a seminary, he decided upon a military career and joined the French army in 1823. As a sergeant in the 14th line infantry, he took part in the Algerian expedition of 1830. He won his commission at the capture of Algiers and during the subsequent campaigns rose to the rank of Colonel. He returned to France in 1850. In the Crimean War, he served under François Certain Canrobert as general of brigade. For his brilliant conduct at the Battle of Malakoff in 1855 he was promoted to General of division. He later led a division of Adolphe Niel's corps in the Battle of Solférino.
Retired on account of his age in 1865, he was recalled to active service on the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian War in 1870. After the early reverses he was made head of the XIII army corps, which, fortunately for France, did not arrive at the front in time to be involved in the catastrophe of Sedan. By a skilful retreat he brought his corps intact to Paris on September 7. During the Siege of Paris, Vinoy commanded the III army operating on the south side of the capital and took part in all the actions in that quarter. On Louis Jules Trochu's resignation he was appointed to the supreme command, in which capacity he negotiated France's surrender.
Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербу́рг, tr. Sankt-Peterburg; IPA: [ˈsankt pʲɪtʲɪrˈburk]) is the second largest city in Russia. It is politically incorporated as a federal subject (a federal city). It is located on the Neva River at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. In 1914 the name of the city was changed from Saint Petersburg to Petrograd (Russian: Петрогра́д; IPA: [pʲɪtrɐˈgrat]), in 1924 to Leningrad (Russian: Ленингра́д; IPA: [lʲɪnʲɪnˈgrat]), and in 1991, back to Saint Petersburg. In Russian literature, informal documents, and discourse, the word "Saint" is usually omitted, leaving "Petersburg". In casual conversation Russians may drop the "burg" as well, referring to it as "Peter": Russian: Питер (Piter).
Tsar Peter the Great founded Saint Petersburg on May 27 [O.S. 16] 1703. Between 1713–1728 and 1732–1918 Saint Petersburg functioned as the imperial capital of Russia. In 1918 the central government bodies moved from Saint Petersburg (then named Petrograd) to Moscow. It is Russia's second-largest city after Moscow, with 5 million inhabitants (2012), and the fourth most populated federal subject. Saint Petersburg is a major European cultural center, and also an important Russian port on the Baltic Sea.
Vinoy Park is an 11.6-acre (4.7 ha) park located on the downtown waterfront of St. Petersburg, Florida. Vinoy Park was named after the Vinoy Park Hotel, which was originally called the Vinoy Park when constructed in 1925 and sits adjacent to the park. Vinoy Park is operated by St. Petersburg's Parks and Recreation group. The downtown waterfront park hosts yearly events including St. Petersburg's Ribfest, Tampa Bay's Blues Festival, Christmas displays, and various other events such as art festivals, concerts, and triathlons.
St. Petersburg is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. As of the 2014 census estimate, the population was 253,693, making St. Petersburg the 5th most populous city in the state of Florida and the largest city in Florida that is not a county seat (the city of Clearwater is the county seat). St. Petersburg is the second largest city in the Tampa Bay Area, after Tampa, composed of roughly 2.8 million residents, making it the second largest Metropolitan Statistical Area in the state. It is also a popular vacation destination for both American and foreign tourists. The city is located on a peninsula between Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico and is connected to mainland Florida to the north.
St. Petersburg was founded in 1888 by John C. Williams, who purchased the land, and by Peter Demens, who brought the railroad industry into the area. As a part of a coin toss bet, the winner, Peter Demens, named the land after Saint Petersburg, Russia, while Williams opted to name the first hotel built which was named the Detroit Hotel, both named after their home towns respectively. St. Petersburg was incorporated as a town on February 29, 1892 and re-incorporated as a city on June 6, 1903.

A wedding at The Vinoy Renaissance Resort by our videographers in St Petersburg. This was shot during a brunch wedding at the Tea Garden and the reception on the Tea Garden Lawn. The Tea Garden provides a beautiful atmosphere for a outdoor wedding with lush tropical landscaping and a romantic waterfall. The Mediterranean Revival style architecture of this historic hotel built in 1925 provides a variety of tropical backgrounds for wedding photography. A brick paved walkway for the bridal processional leads from the building to the garden arbor that surrounds the seating area. Amidst the walkway is a romantic waterfall. The reception was on the Tea Garden Lawn, which is right next to the ceremony area. Great being able to use a drone for reception shots, getting unique shots that w...
The Vinoy Renaissance Hotel overlooks both Tampa Bay and a scenic marina. The Vinoy, a historic boutique hotel, is located at 501 5th Avenue NE in St. Petersburg, Florida. The staff are well-trained, attentive, and friendly. The Vinoy was lovingly restored to the high standards of when it was originally built in the 1925. Close to the Salvador Dali Museum, Central Shopping District and a charming park, the Vinoy has a lot to offer. The golf course, however, is off-site. The Vinoy attracts both business conference travelers and tourists. Try Marchand's Bar and Grill, with a stunning interior, and a dreamy Gatsbyesque veranda bar for liquid refreshments. The hotel grounds and landscaping are top-notch. The Vinoy Renaissance Hotel is about 20 minutes from St. Petersburg Beach and about 40 m...

The Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club is located in St. Petersburg, Florida. While staying there I had a standard room with a King sized bed in the Guest Tower. My room has two balconies and overlooked the harbour and downtown area. The hotel was opened in 1925 and has a lot of old charm mixed with modern touches. There are various locations on the property to eat with my favourite being the verandah bar off of the lobby along with the lounge chair waiter service poolside. They have a small spa which is rumoured to be getting a large expansion in the next few years. If you are visiting South West Florida you should definitely check out the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. www.marriott.com/tpasr Music by JoshWoodward.com Album: The Simple Life (i...

I just can't get the ending right.
I'm so desperate tonight.
It seems only right to let the shadows lead the way.
If I could only just decide.
To let go of my insides.
I know that I'll never have to feel this way again.
And I'm caught in between.
My waking life and dreams.
Death's just as lonely as before.
I still remember you when.
This is all too familiar now.
I know I've seen this place before. But I just don't recall.
I don't feel like I'm awake. But I'm not dreaming.
What was it that I came here for?
They held us down.
But now we're breaking loose.
We swore that we'd let nothing stand in our way.
And when I'm gone.
I will come back to haunt you.
I'll still watch over you my love.
When you're on your way to me.
Don't forget the taste of me.
And don't forget the feel of me.
With my arms around you.
Those memories will never fade.
Like all the promises we made.
This is all too familiar now.
I know I've seen this place before. But I just don't recall.
I don't feel like I'm awake. But I'm not dreaming.
What was it that I came here for?
From below. The sun will rise.
And give us time to clear our heads.
The end is breathing down my neck.
Though hope is all that we have left.
The pain in understanding. Why we can't take it all back.
It's time to finally let go. Of everything we've known.
This is all too familiar now.
I know I've seen this place before. But I just don't recall.
I don't feel like I'm awake. But I'm not dreaming.
What was it that I came here for?
I swear I'll find you before I drift away.
This is all too familiar now.
I know I've seen this place before. But I just don't recall.
I don't feel like I'm awake. But I'm not dreaming.
