Recently is a 1987 album by Joan Baez. At the time of its release, it was the her first album of new material issued in the US in eight years. As she had done during the 1960s for Bob Dylan, Tim Hardin and Richard Farina, Baez lent her voice to the songwriters of the day, in this case Mark Knopfler, U2 and Peter Gabriel, and found herself straddling a line between attempting to further connect with young audiences (who first became acquainted with her through her appearances at Live Aid and Amnesty International's A Conspiracy of Hope Tour), while reintroducing herself to her established listeners, after such a long absence.
The track "Asimbognagna" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Recording.
Recently is an EP by the Dave Matthews Band, released in 1994. All songs are live recordings. "Recently" is an edit of the live version found on Remember Two Things, recorded at The Flood Zone in Richmond, VA on August 10, 1993; "Dancing Nancies" and "Warehouse" were recorded at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia on February 21, 1994; "All Along the Watchtower" and "Halloween" were recorded at Trax in Charlottesville, Virginia on February 22, 1994.
In September of 2014, it was announced that a 10" Special Edition double vinyl, containing both the initial release as well as the "Pumpkin" Promo EP would be released for Record Store Day on Black Friday.
All songs written by Dave Matthews except where noted.
Tracks 2 and 3 are live acoustic versions performed by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds.
Recently I’ve been burning bridges
and giving up so much pointless stuff
that when I finally show up at all they’ll be surprised
recently I’ve been taking chances
and giving lessons on how to tell the world you don’t care
before you ask, I’m fine.
‘Cause honestly I don’t have the patience
to try and explain the things I say
and my time is wasted
just like your cynical friends
and honestly I don’t think about the things I say
I guess it sorta just comes out
So, goodbye (goodbye)
I’m ready to go.
And I’m leaving all of these memories on the floor
