Coronation Street

Coronation Street (informally known as Corrie) is a British soap opera created by Granada Television and shown on ITV since 9 December 1960. The programme centres on Coronation Street in Weatherfield, a fictional town based on Salford, its terraced houses, café, corner shop, newsagents, textile factory and The Rovers Return pub. The fictional street was built in the early 1900s and named in honour of the coronation of King Edward VII.

The programme was conceived in 1960 by scriptwriter Tony Warren at Granada Television in Manchester. Warren's initial kitchen sink drama proposal was rejected by the station's founder Sidney Bernstein, but he was persuaded by producer Harry Elton to produce the programme for thirteen pilot episodes. Within six months of the show's first broadcast, it had become the most-watched programme on British television, and is now a significant part of British culture. This show has been one of the most financially lucrative programmes on British commercial television, underpinning the success of Granada Television and ITV.

Antara Mitra

Antara Mitra (Bengali: অন্তরা মিত্র; born 10 July, 1987) is a vocalist and Bollywood Playback singer from West Bengal, India. Antara was a contestant in Sony Entertainment Television's reality show Indian Idol 2 in 2006.

Biography

Antara Mitra is from Maslandapur, a small town in West Bengal, near Calcutta, India. She exhibited a keen early interest in music, and her father inspired her. She was accepted as a contestant at age 18 on a national TV show and competed admirably as a finalist in both that show and a successive similar show (Junoon).

At one time she considered studying medicine, but abandoned the idea in favour of pursuing a professional singing career.

Mitra literally grew up with music: her father is a music teacher. Since the age of three, Antara would sing along with other children who came to her home to learn from her father.

When Antara was eliminated from the contest, well-known music director Anu Malik offered her playback singing work, but Antara returned to her home town and soon afterward (April 2006) she relocated to Mumbai to pursue a vocal-performance-for-film soundtrack career.

Miss Pooja

Miss Pooja (born 4 December 1979 as Gurinder Kaur Kainth) is an Indian singer and actress.

She is widely regarded as having revived Punjabi duet songs. She has become the largest-selling female bhangra artist in India and overseas. A partial reason for her success is the rapid increase in the number of songs that she continues to record. She has released duets with more than 70 different male singers.

Early life

Pooja has a Master's degree in music. She worked as a music teacher in Patel Public School in Rajpura, India before she embarked on her musical career.

Career

In 2006, Miss Pooja debuted with her first duet song "Jaan Ton Piyari". In 2009, her debut solo album was "Romantic Jatt" and the music video of her song "Do Nain" from that album was shot in Toronto, Canada. In 2010, her first two films were "Panjaban" and "Channa Sachi Muchi". In 2012, the music video of her song "Shona Shona" from her third solo album "Jattitude" was shot in Hong Kong and she also made a debut in the Bollywood Industry with the song "Second Hand Jawani" from the film "Cocktail". In 2013, her third film was "Pooja Kiven Aa" and fourth film was "Ishq Garaari". As of 2013, she has recorded over 3000 songs, released over 300 music albums (including religious music albums), shot over 800 music videos and acted in five Punjabi films.

We saw this picture and were rolling on the floor laughing because it reminded us how simple the Shona language is. So we went ahead and did our version of this with all the little phrases, sounds and sayings we grew up hearing. Obviously we didn't get to every saying and we may have left some out, so if we did, please go ahead and comment below with them tiseke tese guys!
