AI takeover

AI takeover refers to a hypothetical scenario in which artificial intelligence (AI) becomes the dominant form of intelligence on Earth, with computers or robots effectively taking control of the planet away from the human race. Possible scenarios include a takeover by a superintelligent AI and the popular notion of a robot uprising. As computer and robotics technologies are advancing at an ever increasing rate, AI takeover is a growing concern. It has also been a major theme throughout science fiction for many decades, though the scenarios dealt with by science fiction are generally very different from those of concern to scientists.

Concerns

There is an ongoing debate over whether or not artificial intelligence will pose a threat to the human race, or to humans' control of society. Some of the concerns are: the issue of feasibility (whether or not AI can reach human or better intelligence); whether or not such strong AI could take over (or pose a threat); and whether it would be friendly or unfriendly (or indifferent) to humans. The hypothetical future event in which strong AI emerges is referred to as the technological singularity.

Gabriel

In the Abrahamic religions, Gabriel (Hebrew: גַּבְרִיאֵל, Modern Gavri'el, Tiberian Gaḇrîʼēl "God is my strength"; Biblical Greek: Γαβριήλ, Gabriēl) is an angel who typically serves as a messenger sent from God to certain people.

Gabriel is mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. In the Old Testament, he appears to the prophet Daniel, delivering explanations of Daniel's visions (Daniel 8:15–26, 9:21–27). In the Gospel of Luke, Gabriel appeared to Zechariah and the Virgin Mary, foretelling the births of John the Baptist and Jesus, respectively (Luke 1:11–38). In the Book of Daniel, he is referred to as "the man Gabriel", while in the Gospel of Luke, Gabriel is referred to as "an angel of the Lord" (Luke 1:11). Gabriel is not called an archangel in the Bible, but is so called in Intertestamental period sources like the Book of Enoch. In the Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Eastern and Oriental Orthodox churches, the archangels Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel are also referred to as saints. In Islam, Gabriel is considered an archangel whom God is believed to have sent with revelation to various prophets, including Muhammad. The 96th chapter of the Quran, al-Alaq, is believed by Muslims to have been the first chapter (surah) revealed by Gabriel to Muhammad.

Short film

A short film is any film not long enough to be considered a feature film. Although no consensus exists as to where that boundary is drawn, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits". The term featurette originally applied to a film longer than a short subject, but shorter than a standard feature film.

The increasingly rare term short subject means approximately the same thing. An industry term, it carries more of an assumption that the film is shown as part of a presentation along with a feature film. Short is an abbreviation for either term. Short films are often screened at local, national, or international film festivals and made by independent filmmakers for non profit, either with a low budget or no budget at all. They are usually funded by film grants, non profit organizations, sponsor, or personal funds. Short films are generally used by filmmakers to gain experience and/or prove their talent in order to gain funding for future films from private investors, entertainment companies, or film studios.

Robot Arena

Robot Arena is a computer game made by Infogrames. It features robotic combat similar to that of Battlebots, Robotica, and Robot Wars. There are a number of different chassis, and on top of that there are numerous attachments. Weapons, accessories, tires and other forms of mobility, batteries, and air tanks are among the customization choices. A sequel, called Robot Arena 2: Design and Destroy was made, which allows for total customization of your robot.

Weapons

There is a limited number of weapons in the game, but they cover the basics of robotic combat. One weapon is mounted to the front of the robot chassis and the back can be fitted with spikes.

Batteries

Batteries allow the robot to function. Once the battery runs out, the player's robot is unable to move and is vulnerable to enemy attack. Weapons can still function without battery power. There are two available batteries in the game.

Robot Arena 2: Design and Destroy

Robot Arena 2: Design and Destroy (Also known as Robot Arena 2 or RA2) is a computer game developed by Gabriel Entertainment and published by Infogrames. It is the sequel to Robot Arena. Compared to its predecessor, it has many new features, such as the Havok physics engine, fully 3-D environments (robots are now able to leave the ground), and the player's ability to completely design their own robot. This includes chassis design, weapon placement, mechanics, and paint, etc. Weapons are nearly completely customizable, including weapons that mount on various attachments, such as poles, disks, and tri-bars. There is no credit system, parts can be taken for free as long as the weight limit has not been reached. Nearly every type of weapon in robotic combat is doable, but servo motor based weaponry (e.g., hydraulic crushers, lifting devices, etc.) typically does not work. Although not well received from a marketing standpoint, this game has a dedicated fanbase and a community that is still active today.
