Gabriel & Dresden

Gabriel & Dresden is the project name of the American DJs and producers Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden from San Francisco. They collaborated from 2001 to 2008, then again from 2011 to the present. During that time, they have created numerous hit songs and remixes, some of which are considered all-time classics. They won the coveted Winter Music Conference IDMA award for "Best American DJ" twice, in 2007 and 2008, the latter time on the same day that the group split up. The pair reunited in early 2011 and proceeded on a reunion tour, which began at Ruby Skye in San Francisco on March 4, 2011.

History

Early years (1980–2002)

Dave Dresden's musical ability was developed through 15 years DJ-ing prior to forming the group, while Josh Gabriel has an undergraduate college degree in music composition from the California Institute for the Arts.

Dave's love for music was influenced by a local 1980's Westchester County, New York nightclub located in Banksville, New York called Krypton's. DJ Ralphie Gomez, the club's longtime resident DJ (1980–1994), played an eclectic mixture of new wave and early industrial music that drew crowds to this popular back road rural night spot. He also was inspired by watching a pre-fame Moby DJ at a teen club in Greenwich, Connecticut called The Cafe. One night while dancing at Krypton's to Anne Clark's "Wallies", Dave decided to be a DJ.

Betsie Larkin

Betsie Larkin is an American vocalist, songwriter and guest writer/vocalist based in San Francisco, California, United States. Her first EDM collaborations with Ferry Corsten, "Made of Love" and "Feel You," appeared on Corsten's album Twice in a Blue Moon. Soon after its release, the single "Made of Love" made the top 40 in the Netherlands. In 2008 it was voted the fifth track overall on Armin Van Buuren's radio program A State of Trance, number one on Above and Beyond Group Therapy Radio, and reached the number one position on Corsten's Countdown's 100th episode. "Made of Love" was the second single and the first vocal track to be released from the Twice In A Blue Moon album. There is also an official video. Larkin joined Corsten as his tour kicked off in Malaysia and has joined him for numerous shows all over the globe.

Gabriel

In the Abrahamic religions, Gabriel (Hebrew: גַּבְרִיאֵל, Modern Gavri'el, Tiberian Gaḇrîʼēl "God is my strength"; Biblical Greek: Γαβριήλ, Gabriēl) is an angel who typically serves as a messenger sent from God to certain people.

Gabriel is mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. In the Old Testament, he appears to the prophet Daniel, delivering explanations of Daniel's visions (Daniel 8:15–26, 9:21–27). In the Gospel of Luke, Gabriel appeared to Zechariah and the Virgin Mary, foretelling the births of John the Baptist and Jesus, respectively (Luke 1:11–38). In the Book of Daniel, he is referred to as "the man Gabriel", while in the Gospel of Luke, Gabriel is referred to as "an angel of the Lord" (Luke 1:11). Gabriel is not called an archangel in the Bible, but is so called in Intertestamental period sources like the Book of Enoch. In the Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Eastern and Oriental Orthodox churches, the archangels Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel are also referred to as saints. In Islam, Gabriel is considered an archangel whom God is believed to have sent with revelation to various prophets, including Muhammad. The 96th chapter of the Quran, al-Alaq, is believed by Muslims to have been the first chapter (surah) revealed by Gabriel to Muhammad.

Maor

Maor (Hebrew: מָאוֹר) is an agricultural moshav in the Menashe Regional Council, Israel, near Baqa al-Gharbiyye. It was established in 1953 by Jewish immigrants from Romania and Poland; was abandoned after several years, and re-established in 1957 by Jewish immigrants from Yemen. The population is several hundred people, some of which work in agriculture on the moshav, and others who live on the moshav but work elsewhere.
