This workshop will introduce you to Canva, a free online graphic design program. Learn how to use their templates and create flyers, social media graphics, or other types of images for your business or personal use. Computers will be provided but participants must have an e-mail address for use during the program.

Center for Natural Lands Management Native Plant Gardening Workshop

Interested in learning more about native plants? Join us for the July session of our 2018 Gardening Workshop Series! This session will focus on prairie plant ecology, interactions between prairie plant and animal communities, basic prairie plant identification, seed harvesting and cleaning, and much more!
 
This session will run from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM on Friday, July 27th and continue on Saturday, July 28th from 10:00 AM -1:00 PM in our prairie demonstration garden at Shotwell's Landing Nursery (14447 Littlerock Road, Rochester, WA 98579). Participants will also receive an information booklet and sample of seeds to take home.

Center for Natural Lands Management Second Saturday Work Party

Join us for our Second Saturday work party! We'll be heading out from 11:30 - 3:00 to collect wild camas seeds, along with any other seeds that might be ripe, at Glacial Heritage Preserve (15018 Mima Rd SW, Olympia, WA 98512). This is a great chance to enjoy some beautiful summer weather, learn about or brush up on your native plant identification skills, and explore some lands that usually aren't open to the public.
 
We'll have carpooling available to the work party from Shotwell's Landing Nursery (14447 Littlerock Rd, Rochester WA, 98579), where we'll be holding our Second Saturday lecture before the work party from 10:00-11:00.
 
Please bring plenty of water and a packed lunch, and be prepared to be outdoors for a while. Feel free to contact ssvolunteers@cnlm.org for directions, questions, or more information. We hope to see you all there!

The lecture will be held at Shotwell's Landing Nursery (14447 Littlerock Rd, Rochester WA, 98579) from 10:00-11:00. Light refreshments will be provided. Join us afterwards for our Second Saturday work party from 11:30-3:00, where we'll be heading out to collect wild camas seeds!

Join us for our weekly Tuesday work party! We'll be meeting first at Violet Prairie Seed Farm (17843 Gibson Road, Tenino, WA, 98589), and then moving on to Colvin Ranch, where we'll be removing Scots Broom, a common invasive plant in the area. Please bring a packed lunch, plenty of water, and work gloves if you have them, and come prepared to work outside for a while.

Carpooling is available from our office in downtown Olympia - please let us know at least the day before if you'd like to take part in this.

Join us for a wild camas seed collection outing! We'll be meeting at Glacial Heritage Preserve (15018 Mima Rd SW, Olympia, WA 98512). Camas is very distinct and rattles when the seeds are ripe, making it one of the easiest species to identify. We'll also be collecting from lupine, violet, and any other ripe species. This is a great way to learn about or brush up on native plant identification and explore some lands that usually aren't open to the public!

We'll have carpooling options available from our downtown office in Olympia - please contact us at least the day before if you plan on using this.

We'll be working on removing the invasive plants Scots Broom and Tansy Ragwort. Come out with us to get some fresh air, help restore your local ecosystems, and explore in the great outdoors!

Preschool Poets: An Animated Series with Nancy Kangas

Artists from all over the world animated poems composed by preschoolers from Columbus Ohio's east side. The films reveal a depth and complexity you don't expect. An accompanying documentary tells stories of the children's lives. Nancy Kangas is a poet and poetry teacher based in Columbus, and collaborated with documentary filmmaker Josh Kun for this project. This program will occur after regular library hours and no other services will be available.
