    Same old story. Labour / Left ignore progressive Muslims and align with religious conservatives in our communities, always. They’d never side with conservative Christian groups in this way.

    That's our experience too but silence on homophobia and transphobia- which is what the issue boils down to - makes those involved in complicit in the violence and exclusion of LGBTQI .

    The 500 or so straight/cis Muslims I've talked to about this in 1to1 interview say that privately they're supportive of LGBT people but wouldn't feel safe saying that at the mosque. No God condones bullying, after all

    Nope, no politics here. Just a simple human plea for to be accommodated at the mosque. You haven't answered genuine questions about where Muslims should pray & mixed gender prayers for Muslims VisitMyMosque

    If you want to play politics, please do. I am at my local mosque at an event. You are clearly not interested in dialogue but in winning the political game. So go ahead. Bye.

    Fantastic ! Now where to our & gender non conforming Muslims go to pray? Also single sex prayer spaces are a little compromising for lesbian gay Muslims - what can we do about that? Would mixed gender prayers be OK? 🙏🏽

    I do think this is something masajid should take time to understand and come to terms with. It's difficult for people whose gender/sexual identity is a little bit outside of the norm and who want to feel closeness to Allah & the community without being insulted and ridiculed

    We don't encourage to put themselves in danger. The whole point is: WHY ARE WE IN DANGER? Why is the BEST response from Muslims always to brush us under the carpet? is a great time to remind ourselves that we have a LONG way to go.

    Because if islamic preachers continue to promote violence towards lgbt - are you going to still try to be apart of such communities? Are you going to encourage individuals to try and be apart of such spaces? In an ideal world it would be lovely but the reality is far from it

    Imams have told me the community is not ready for me being transgender. I just want to pray and be part of the community but I’m told the same answers again and again. It’s frustrating. What should I do?

    I stand in solidarity with you and think it is quite remarkable how many politicians are willing to ignore this bigotry including LGBTI ones for 'inclusion'. Cowardice of the first order.
