Personal property is generally considered property that is movable, as opposed to real property or real estate. In common law systems, personal property may also be called chattels or personalty. In civil law systems, personal property is often called movable property or movables – any property that can be moved from one location to another. This term is in distinction with immovable property or immovables, such as land and buildings. Movable property on land, that which was not automatically sold with the land, included for example a larger livestock (wildlife and smaller livestock like chickens, by contrast, were often sold as part of the land). In fact the word cattle is the Old Norman variant of Old French chatel (derived from Latin capitalis, “of the head”), which was once synonymous with general movable personal property.
Personal property may be classified in a variety of ways.
Tangible personal property refers to any type of property that can generally be moved (i.e., it is not attached to real property or land), touched or felt. These generally include items such as furniture, clothing, jewelry, art, writings, or household goods. In some cases, there can be formal title documents that show the ownership and transfer rights of that property after a person's death (for example, motor vehicles, boats, etc.) In many cases, however, tangible personal property will not be "titled" in an owner's name and is presumed to be whatever property he or she was in possession of at the time of his or her death.
Personal may refer to:
In the abstract, property is that which belongs to or with something, whether as an attribute or as a component of said thing. In the context of this article, property is one or more components (rather than attributes), whether physical or incorporeal, of a person's estate; or so belonging to, as in being owned by, a person or jointly a group of people or a legal entity like a corporation or even a society. (Given such meaning, the word property is uncountable, and as such, is not described with an indefinite article or as plural.) Depending on the nature of the property, an owner of property has the right to consume, alter, share, redefine, rent, mortgage, pawn, sell, exchange, transfer, give away or destroy it, or to exclude others from doing these things, as well as to perhaps abandon it; whereas regardless of the nature of the property, the owner thereof has the right to properly use it (as a durable, mean or factor, or whatever), or at the very least exclusively keep it.
In economics and political economy, there are three broad forms of property: private property, public property, and collective property (also called cooperative property).
Sweet Charity is a musical with music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields and book by Neil Simon. It was directed and choreographed for Broadway by Bob Fosse starring his wife and muse Gwen Verdon alongside John McMartin. It is based on Federico Fellini's screenplay for Nights of Cabiria. However, where Fellini's black-and-white Italian film concerns the romantic ups-and-downs of an ever-hopeful sex worker, in the musical the central character is a dancer-for-hire at a Times Square dance hall. The musical premiered on Broadway in 1966, where it was nominated for 9 Tony Awards, and also ran in the West End as well as having revivals and international productions.
The musical was adapted for the screen in 1969 with Shirley MacLaine as Charity and John McMartin recreating his Broadway role as Oscar Lindquist. Bob Fosse directed and choreographed this film.

Welcome to this edition of PropTax Tutorials. The one challenge that every property tax professional encounters is trying to determine if an asset should be classified as real or personal property. It is important to properly classify the asset to avoid double taxation, where the asset is captured on both the real estate roll and the personal property assessment. So, what is the difference between real and personal property? Real property is described as the earth's surface and all of the things permanently attached to it. Personal property is all of the remaining property not permanently attached to the realty. Now, I know that might sound a little too general for differentiating between the two for specific assets but there are some basic checks one can use to determine if an asset sho...
Gwen Verdon originated the role of the naive, big-hearted taxi-dancer "Sweet Charity" on Broadway in 1966. Gwen was married to the ultra talented dancer and director Bob Fosse. When Universal Pictures bought the film rights to the show, they selected another ex-Broadway dancer, Shirley MacLaine to star as Charity - who campaigned to have Bob Fosse direct (this was his first film) - while his wife Gwen taught Shirley all of the dance moves! The film of "Sweet Charity" (music and lyrics by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields) had some new songs written for it - one being "My Personal Property", which Charity sings to her unsavory boyfriend Charlie (played by dancer Dante Di Paolo - later Rosemary Clooney's second husband) as they stroll through Central Park. She's a gold-plated lover
Twenty-four carat cool
She can walk on water
She can walk in my room
She's a one man woman
And it's a one man race
She's got a kiss like fire
She burns the lips right off my face
It's finder's keepers
Loser's gonna weep
She's personal, property
Sealed 'n' stamped
Money in the bank
She's privateFor my eyes only
She's personal property
Personal property
Personal service, personal touch
Exclusively mine, thank you so much
She's a heart stoppin', brain thuddin'
Blood pumpin', knee tremblin'
Spine crushin', tongue tyin'
Personal property
And she belongs to me
She won't fall for nothin'
She's much more than cute
Don't mind y' window shoppin', that's all right
But you ain't gonna taste
My forbidden fruit
Adios, au revoir,
Wiedersehen, goodbye
She's personal property
Off limits, out of bounds
Under lock 'n' keyConfidential
For my eyes only
She's mine, yeah
Now I don't mind you guys checkin' her out
You can whistle like a wolf
Or you can mess around
But let me tell you the secret
Of the sweet life
If you wanna stay healthy, man
Take my advice
You better kit the road, Jack
And don't come back!
You could be king of the jungle
Or you could swing in the rain
But she don't need no monkey, not my babe
'Cos I'm her Tarzan and she's my Jane
And she's mine
