Yukihiro Takahashi first came to prominence as the drummer of the Sadistic Mika Band in the early 1970s, and became known to western audiences after this band (led by Kazuhiko Kato, formerly of The Folk Crusaders) toured and recorded in the United Kingdom. After the Sadistic Mika Band disbanded, some of the members (including Takahashi) formed another band called The Sadistics, who released several albums. Takahashi recorded his first solo album, Saravah, in 1977. In 1978, Takahashi joined Ryuichi Sakamoto and Haruomi Hosono to form the Yellow Magic Orchestra.

After the Yellow Magic Orchestra disbanded in the mid 1980s, Takahashi went solo and released a large number of solo albums, primarily intended for the Japanese market. Takahashi has collaborated extensively with other musicians, including Bill Nelson, Iva Davies of Icehouse,[2] Keiichi Suzuki of the Moonriders (often as a duo dubbed "The Beatniks", although Suzuki essentially functioned as a member of Takahashi's backing band during the Moonriders' brief hiatus) and in particular Steve Jansen. Takahashi has released a single Stay Close and an EP Pulse as a duo with Jansen.

Takahashi helped compose the soundtrack to the anime series Nadia: Secret of the Blue Water in 1989, including the song "Families".[3] Takahashi participated in temporary reunions of both the Sadistic Mika Band (missing the lead vocalist Mika who was replaced by Kaela Kimura), and The Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO). Both of these reunions included tours of Japan, and an album of new material.

In the early 2000s, Takahashi became a member of the duo Sketch Show, with Haruomi Hosono. Sketch Show has released two albums, one of which, Loophole, has been released in the UK. Both Takahashi and Hosono have recently reunited with Sakamoto as HASYMO – a combination of Human Audio Sponge and Yellow Magic Orchestra. This collaboration produced a new single "Rescue" in 2007 and a new album looks to be in the pipeline in the near future. Takahashi's latest solo album Life Anew will be released on July 17, 2013.

Saravah! is Yukihiro Takahashi's first solo album. It's named after Pierre Barouh's record label of the same name. Takahashi conceived the album during his tenure on The Sadistics; he based his music on French pop music, this influence would later show up on early Yellow Magic Orchestra material. Besides Takahashi, this album features performances by members of The Sadistics, YMO and Tin Pan Alley. Due to the album being made before YMO members started using computers, Sakamoto got involved in arranging the music; all the keyboard parts on the album are dubbed instead of sequenced.

Murdered by the Music is Yukihiro Takahashi's second solo album, released when he was a member of YMO. As well as his YMO bandmates Ryuichi Sakamoto and Haruomi Hosono, and longtime YMO collaborator Hideki Matsutake this album also features contributions from Sandii and Makoto Arukawa of Sheena & the Rokkets. In Japan this album reached No 12 on the general Oricon chart.

Tomorrow's Just Another Day shows the songwriter Yukihiro Takahashi in my opinion at the height of his work. Here are some of the most beautiful, haunting pop songs that you can hardly imagine more melodic. Who the late YMO stuff knows, he can imagine in which direction it is. Both the slow, slow-moving ballads (Ripple, Maebure, This Island Earth, The April Fools) and the faster, more drifty pieces (My Bright Tomorrow, Coincidence, Rokugatsu no Tenshi and the single release Are you receiving me?) Show which he also hides behind Takahashi. Not in vain did he sing most of the YMO tunes.

You also notice every minute that you get the result of a "thoroughbred drummer" (Coincidence, My bright tomorrow, ...). But the whole album is very synth-heavy and you recognize many typical sounds that you have already heard on various other Japanese releases of this "epoch" (the equipment just ...). Of course, here again YMO companions R. Sakamoto and H. Hosono are among the starters, among others, high-ranking guests such as Bill Nelson, Kenji Ohmura, Hiroyaso Yaguchi, Takeshi Fuji and Pierre Barrou (but by no means all of them).

Poisson d'Avril (the French idiom meaning April Fools) is the soundtrack of a film starring Takahashi. (A large poster of "Yuki" is included.) He was apparently seized by the urge to become Burt Bacharach; a surprisingly large amount of it is movie music, in the style of "sophisticated" '60s romantic comedy.

Today an artist who graduated with honors from the prestigious Berklee College of Music after receiving the "Best Achievement" scholarship, the Colombian singer-songwriter has developed an artistic career that positions her as one of the most outstanding composers and performers of the current music scene.  She was nominated in 2005 for the Billboard Latin Music Awards she has been described by the press as "an exceptional talent with a sublime voice" Marta not only traverses a whole range of Colombian cumbias and bambucos, Argentine zambas, Cuban sones and Peruvian landos but she also writes the kind of melodies and refrains that translate across whatever language she is singing in.    .... Marta started her musical studies at the age of six in her native Colombia when she entered the Liceo Benalcazar choir, becoming its soloist for ten years. In 1993 Marta moved to the capital of her country to continue her musical studies at the Javeriana University before entering the Berklee College of Music in 1999.

In 2001 Marta recorded a self-titled album and in 2003 she released Solo es vivir, chosen by The Boston Globe as one of the 10 best albums of the year. Marta Gomez and her group perform a repertoire composed entirely of original songs based on a fascinating variety of rhythms from all over Latin America including Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Argentina mixed with jazz and pop elements.

Originally from Colombia, the singer started to compose songs exploring her roots, but when she met Argentine musicians Julio Santillan, Franco Pinna and Fernando Huergo, (Los Changos) they decided to share their musical backgrounds to create a distinctive blend of music that reflects the sound and culture of South America. In the summer of 1999 Marta traveled to Boston to join Berklee where she later received the Alex Ulanowsky composition award for her bambuco "Confession" before graduating Magna cum laude in 2002. A year later Marta was chosen by the famous American blues singer Bonnie Raitt to open her concert with the young Grammy winner, John Mayer and later Marta was the special guest at the concert of the great Argentine singer Mercedes Sosa.

Composition being the center of focus and with more than 80 songs composed, Marta has won many competitions in this field, the most prestigious being the SIBL Project, from the USA, which chose her song "Paula Ausente" as the best song  Inspired by a Latin American writer.  Paula Ausente is a song dedicated to the Chilean writer Isabel Allende and Marta had the opportunity to sing it to Allende in November 2004, in California.  This same song was included in another Putumayo album called "Women of the acoustic world" (2007) and is part of the soundtrack of the series "Capadocia" produced by HBO Latin America.

Marta was chosen by the Colombian magazine Fucsia as one of the five most representative Colombians of the year 2005. Later, Marta recorded a song called "The circle" composed by Kris Kristofferson dedicated to the disappeared in  Argentina and Iraq.  Marta "took the song to a very high level, where it really belongs" in the words of Kristofferson himself.  The writer John Sandford, referred to this interpretation in his novel "Dark of the moon" (the darkness of the moon).

His production "Entre Cada Palabra" (2005 Chesky records) earned her the title of "Best National Act of World Music" of the year 2006 by the Boston Phoenix newspaper.  Her fifth production "Musiquita" brought Marta once again into the list of the ten best albums of the "World Music" genre of the European World Music Charts for several consecutive weeks.  With this work, Marta offered a series of concerts in countries as diverse as the United States, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Israel, where she also frequently collaborates with the music icon of that country, Idan Raichel.

In "El corazón y el sombrero", her sixth album, the singer-songwriter pays homage to the great poet from Granada Federico García Lorca, playing 12 of his poems with Latin American folk rhythms.  In this CD, Marta was fortunate to have the participation of another great song, the Cádiz-born author Javier Ruibal.  Promoting this new work, he has traveled to Israel (Zappa Jazz Club), Colombia (Music Festival of Cartagena), Ecuador (Teatro Sucre), Spain (Barnasants Festival and The Sea of Music of Murcia) and South Africa (KKNK Festival).  In an interview with the National Public Radio of the United States, journalist Steve Inskeep said he admires the singer's ability to "transform the hard history of his country into sweet music."

Marta is nourished by the everyday, and from that nostalgia arise songs with a deep social and human content. Oh and she's on a mission to teach respect to all that lives (xs note must be an alien spirit then)

"Solo es Vivir" was chosen by The Boston Globe as one of the 10 best CDs of 2003. "Solo es Vivir showcases Gomez's considerable talents as a Latin-jazz singer. The cover shows an attractive Marta in a seductive pose, very professional but the title pointed to what was to come no relational bullshit needed for inspiration to write wonderful songs. 10 years later she released a kids songs album, in 2014, she won a Latin Grammy Award for Best Latin Children's Album for Coloreando: Traditional Songs for Children in Spanish. Auntie duties as she has no kids herselves.

Cantos De Agua Dulce brought this Colombian-born songstress widespread critical acclaim. Cantos De Agua Dulce charted on Billboard's Top 10 Jazz Albums tally, the CMJ New World Chart and the World Music Europe Chart. On the strength of this recording, Gomez was nominated for Best Latin Jazz Vocalist of 2005 by Billboard's Latin Music Awards and was described by the magazine's reviewer as "… the essence of Latin cool". It is a wonderful selection of songs based upon a virtual compendium of dance styles from Latin America played by expert artists.

Colombian singer/songwriter Marta Gomez is a wonderful, enigmatic talent. Her voice has the lulling softness that evokes Brazil's female vocal icons, yet there's a depth to her writing that goes far beneath the surface. She's also something of an expert on Latin rhythms -- there are 13 different ones on this disc, all of them rooted in different cultures, from Colombian bambuco to Argentine chamame. But everything is so perfectly put together that you forget the academic side, pulled along by the music and voice. Recorded over just three days, it's a small masterwork. It doesn't matter if you don't understand Spanish, as Gomez evokes delicate moods in her work, each piece beautifully arranged and shaded, with a very live sound. Her last album saw her labeled as a jazz singer, but there's little evidence of that here, possibly quite deliberately. Instead it's an album of low-key Latin music that at times edges toward a more straightforward singer/songwriter stance -- albeit a very classy one (think Joni Mitchell, for example). On the evidence of this and her previous disc, Gomez is a rapidly rising star of genuine quality and inspiration.

The album title Musiquita elevates the affectionate use of diminutives that is so common in Latin American culture where they are an inseparable part of daily language. In the country villages of South America, diminutives don't diminish the importance of the words, as one might believe. To the contrary, they celebrate and make them more personal, more intimate. Marta has chosen to brand her own music with this communal intimacy by naming her new recording Musiquita. Artists are not supposed to put so many amazing songs on just one single album. And yet, track after track after track, whether up-tempo or slow, joyous or lamenting...there is nothing but pure sonic and musical joy here. You'll be enchanted, enthralled and mesmerized by the sheer beauty and remarkable tenderness of Marta's extremely expressive songs, which are flawlessly accompanied by her velvety-smooth voice. Hello, the first Grand Prix for decades in France today was a bit of a mixed bag. Hamilton's poor start caused Vettel to make a mistake and crash into Bottas, both cars limped home and could return at the back, when the race restarted Vettel started overtaking leaving Bottas in his wake but he had no chance getting further then fifth, Bottas more leisurely pace in overtaking meant he didn't get passed the final 'slower' car 7th place then, 4th place for Ricciardo who had to give way to Raikonen who without Vettel around drove a good race. Up front Verstappen and Hamilton, hardly anything was seen from them as they maintained a 4-5 second gap and had no pressure from behind. Mercedes uber alles once more...


At the Worldcup England had an easy win and Harry Kane 3 more goals, 2 penalties and a deflection from an off-side position. Anyway it's hard to fathom how Panama could keep the USA from qualifying, but then after watching a lame Poland loose to Columbia and go out, it dawned on me that these players are all globalists, they are used to play with and against different cultures. Playing for a xenofobic country like the US today, or that catholic fascist country Poland just isn't inspiring the players and you can't win on 90%. Coming 4 days the final first round games will determine who will play eachother. Brazil will have to decide whether they dare to face Germany as no 1 in their group or Mexico, either way a strong team won't reach the quarter finals, Belgium and England will be there, as most likely will be Spain, France and Croatia, but then this is football...nothing is certain.

Space Force is a BBC Radio science fiction serial, broadcast from 4 April 1984 to 17 June 1985. Written by Charles Chilton, it was originally intended to be a sequel to his Journey into Space series (broadcast in the 1950s), using the cast who'd just made a one-off revival of that series ("The Return From Mars"); while this idea was dropped late in the development of the serial, the four characters are nevertheless essentially the same as those from the earlier series, albeit with different names.

The first series begins during the northern summer of 2010. Both series seem to initially mirror the first two Journey Into Space stories before branching off into quite different plots. A second series, known as Space Force 2, featured the same main characters, once again played by Barry Foster, Nigel Stock, Nicky Henson, and Tony Osoba. Within both series, Space Force is the name of the team's spaceship, rather than the name of an organisation.. ......'N Joy

Tony Osoba - Lodderick Sincere, The flight engineer for Space Force, a keen astronomer who sometimes is hot-headed enough to get himself and the team into trouble.

Nicky Henson - Lemuel "Chipper" Barnet , the radio operator for Space Force. The joker of the group who also struggles with the terrifying situations the team face. In a direct link to Journey into Space, Chipper refers once to his grandfather, Lemmy Barnett.

Nigel Stock - Professor Magnus Carter, added to the Lunar 9 crew under somewhat mysterious circumstances, Magnus is part of a secret organisation searching for extraterrestrial intelligence.
