    The is reporting that the British are concerned with the small spike seen in Portugal recently - and might not lift their quarantine for people arriving from there. No word yet of what the Portuguese think of the British infection rate.

    It's another day when various parties will pressure the Govt to drop quarantine/travel ban. From immediate point of view - helps Irish airlines/airports - but the incoming 🇪🇺 tourism could be small at first. Meanwhile, US tourists could be banned.

    It should also be noted that the so-called 'first wave' in Texas seems remarkably shallow - when compared to Europe. The state has a population of 29 million. Its daily deaths peaked at 63 on May 21st.

    Talk of 'second waves' is problematic. There is much talk about one in Texas where cases are climbing rapidly. But the reopening of Texan society appears to have occured when the state had barely made a dent in suppressing the virus. Bars, restaurants opened up May 23rd.

    We've been talking to the DAA boss about job losses and Govt policy. Dalton Philips says it wants the travel advice looked at urgently. 'We are the enabler for the economy and need to be open for business'. Ireland is 'out of step'. More on at 1730.

    The remarkably low number of new confirmed cases of on the island of Ireland over recent days is obviously very welcome - but the authorities may now have a job on their hands ensuring people stick to social distancing, given the relief these numbers bring.
