    Kiir & Machar are both an impediment to peace in . Both are responsible for atrocities & civil war. Meanwhile South Sudan’s people continue to face starvation, corruption & violence.

    The Human Rights Council and its mechanisms can play a critical role in providing early warning and mobilizing a response to mass atrocity situations - the international community must continue to prioritise early warning and early action on preventing human rights violations.

    : We should never lose sight of the fact that the HRC is the only intergovernmental body responding to issues&situations worldwide. If human rights issues are not discussed here they have little chance to be dealt with meaningfully anywhere else.
