  3. While humpbacks and others species are common in Monterey Bay, their historic abundance was apparently a whale of a tale. Early European visitors described the area as teeming with so many whales that walking on the beach was obnoxious from all the smell of whale breath! 🐋🤢

  4. Humpback whales have been spouted breaching from the back deck today! It's a great time of year to get out on a whale watch if you can—and if that's not possible, there's a chance to see whales on our Monterey Bay cam!

  6. Fun Fact: No one is exactly sure how old many sea turtles can be—they seem to keep outlasting the people studying them! Based on some estimates of some sea turtles breeding for the first time around 30 years of age, they may easily live into their 100s! 👵🌊🐢

  14. How to say goodbye to ? Like a cuttlefish making an exit! When threatened, a cuttlefish can produce a cloud of ink and jet away by expelling a forceful stream of water through its siphon. Until next year, ceph-fans! 🐙🦑
