Ignoring your constituents demanding stricter gun laws after mass shootings of school children is irresponsible.

Senator, I'm all for prosecuting unlawful immigration. Seeking asylum is a lawful act. What is your response to reports that the DHS says 91% of those -currently- detained were asylum-seekers, thus LAWFULLY seeking entry to/actually IN the U.S. and -still- detained? Listening...
-
Everything following “thus” in your tweet is inaccurate. Not sure if your intentionally lying or drawing an incorrect conclusion out of ignorance. Irregardless I suggest you educate yourself or stay out of the grownups conversation.
-
Actually, she’s correct. You have a right by international and US law to claim asylum and have that claim at least heard.
-
An asylum claim isn’t a free entry pass and it doesn’t guarantee entry. They may be declined admittance at a port of entry. They can still go to a US embassy or consulate in whatever country they are in to file their asylum claim. Asylum is a request not a secret back door.
-
Interesting reference but that is an International Agreement not a US law and as such has different connotations than a law ratified by our country.
-
The United States adheres to Articles 2 through 34 of the Refugee Convention by virtue of the Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees, Jan. 31, 1967, 19 U.S.T. 6223 (“the Protocol”), to which the United States acceded on November 1, 1968.
-
So, what if they withdraw? It's been a while and the world is not the same than half a century ago.
-
The US withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council just this week. That happens to be a part of the UN apparatus that would call for accountability regarding International law like this. Also there is a key work in the law DIRECT. When you caravan through Mexico it is NOT DIRECT.

Mr. Rubio, You sound like the Irish guys in "Gangs of New York" who subsequently side with the Natives.

Are you against all the Cubans that came over on rafts and swam to our shores illegally? I'm curious to know your answer. Would you please answer this Marco
-
Often wondered that myself!!! Why do the Cubans who fled Castro’s Cuba for political asylum enjoy the benefits of a “Wet Toe - Dry Toe” policy, while every other Hispanic immigrant is assumed to be a border-jumping criminal?? Please explain, Marco.
-
Because Marco is a hypocrite
-
And a fraud.
-
Honest question, do you just want open borders? I say this as an immigrant myself, I think that would be mental.
-
Of course not. But I also refuse to live in perpetual fear of all foreigners. An interesting immigration fact: most undocumented immigrants are here as a result of an expired visa... not border jumping.
-
I don't live in fear at all, but protecting the sovereignty of your country is a good thing. Is it right that those of us who did things legally have to suffer for those who do things illegally? Should illegals just be given a visa if they make it here? What's your solution?
-
Humane treatment of these people is the solution, and a path to citizenship. From what I understand, crossing the border illegally is a misdemeanor. Why are we incarcerating these people indefinitely for a misdemeanor??
