It’s all so obvious 7″ EP

The masters of Farmcore.  The band that put Mankato on the map.  Ok, maybe I’m over stating it, but ‘kato had a great scene back in the day, and these guys were pretty much the leaders of it.  Great record.  Total D.I.Y.  Great bunch of guys.

Compilation:  Things I stole EP

Great compilation featuring an awesome track from one of my favorite late-80’s/early 90’s punk bands, the Libido Boyz!  This is a different version of Mind’s Eye then I’ve heard before, so that’s a bonus!

"Beaten Man" (by Outcry)

In the early 80’s Outcry was my favorite HC band. I got to see them a few times, and they had that awesome record on Positive Force. Outside of that EP, and the “Another Shot for Braken” comp, that was about it for them in the 80’s. Long after they broke up, Red Decibel released “The Buffalo” EP, which was tracks from what I understand to be an unreleased album worth of material. Sadly, it wasn’t the same sXe HC. Anyway, Beaten Man is from that first EP, and covered by one of the best late 80’s early 90’s punk bands to come out of this state. The Libido lineup is also in the classic and far superior lineup that featured Dustin on Bass.

Hiding Away

Probably my favorite band of the late 80’s, the Libido Boys were at the top of  this state’s punk scene much like Dillinger Four are today.   Every show was a big show, and everyone I knew had all their records the day they came out.

Hiding Away was a disappointing record for me.  Not because the songs suck.  They don’t.  To me this one was disappointing because the production was so cheap.  Most of their self released EP’s and compilation tracks had a much better sound to them.  That said, this record still kicks some serious ass!  On the First Strike label out of the UK, these Mankato punks put Farm Core on map.  This record is just about impossible to find these days.

Here’s another blog posting, this time from the "Feelin’ Kinda Froggy" blog.
