    I have strong opinions about whether parents should have the right to sign away their children’s privacy (as in Internet Barbie). But a school should NEVER be permitted - NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!!!

    So Alexa getting affective computing capabilities means millions of people now hearing things like, "You sound sad" etc. Potential benefits are huge if we have full access and control of our data. Widespread risks and harms are inevitable without this control.

    I do NOT like that this is a thing. By going to catch a train I am granting irrevocable consent to be filmed for TV? And the way of opting out is an instruction to contact the producer “immediately” via an email address?

    Uh, define 'robot'. There are 1.8 million industrial robots in current use globally, and another 285,000 professional service robots. Currently 6.7 million small domestic robots (e.g. vacuum cleaners) and increasing. None of them have emotions or anything even remotely like that.
