Seriously? CNN hires some clueless talking head to disrespect our community's painful history related to this horrific incident? It must be rough for some people when the facts don't match their wacky ideology... ...but that still doesn't excuse their blatant lies.

"The old maxim of measuring a society by how it treats its most needy people is as true today as ever." There are some real similarities between what a good journalist and a good cop witness in the course of their careers.

Instead of quoting pro & con advocates regarding a factual matter of what Prop 205 says... Here's a thought. Read the language of the actual initiative. Where does it limit the requirement for a signed MOU to only ICE & the Border Patrol? It doesn't.

I testified about our misplaced priorities before the Senate Judiciary subcommittee this past spring... "Smugglers are moving ever larger loads of the more dangerous & illegal drug methamphetamine through ports of entry where the wall can't stop them."

Celebratory morning as Tucson's new fire chief, Chuck Ryan, had his badge pinned at the Fire Department's headquarters. Chief Ryan's spouse, Suzanne, did the honors.

Some good points about the impact of quality of life crimes on neighborhoods but the writer misses this reality: Poor & minorities are disproportionally arrested/jailed for these crimes & the overreliance on jail harms families & their economic futures.

Over $800K of this federal grant will support Tucson PD's efforts to follow up on cold case sexual assaults & bring justice to victims. This is the very type of grant funding that TPD could lose in the future if Prop 205 passes.

No one questions that there are some people who absolutely need to go to jail to keep the community safe, but jail is not the right strategy for dealing with the mentally ill and most drug addicted individuals. Most misdemeanor crimes can be dealt with utilizing better options.

"We weren’t looking to make arrests,” said Mr. Lopez, who retired as chief at the end of 2015 (Durham, NC). “The job of a police officer is to guard and make the community safe. The job isn’t to put people in jail.”

Great example of how the Tucson PD conducted a joint operation with the DOJ's ATF bureau utilizing NIBN (integrated ballistic network) to solve a murder case. Three victims were shot in 2017; 1 killed. 9mm casings from scene were linked to a gun used by suspect.
