White deaths exceed white births in the majority of US states, study finds

A census data brief by Applied Population Lab shows that deaths outnumbered births for white people in 26 US states in 2016, up from 17 two years earlier. One of the demographers was so surprised by the rapidity, that "he thought it was a mistake," according to The New York Times.
