Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes is a 1993play in two parts by American playwright Tony Kushner. The work won numerous awards, including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award for Best Play, and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play.
The play is a complex, often metaphorical, and at times symbolic examination of AIDS and homosexuality in America in the 1980s. Certain major and minor characters are supernatural beings (angels) or deceased persons (ghosts). The play contains multiple roles for several of the actors. Initially and primarily focusing on a gay couple in Manhattan, the play also has several other storylines, some of which occasionally intersect.
The two parts of the play are separately presentable and entitled Millennium Approaches and Perestroika, respectively. The play has been made into a television miniseries, and an opera by Peter Eötvös.
Set in New York City in 1985, the play opens with Louis Ironson, a gay Jew, learning that his lover, WASP Prior Walter, has AIDS. As the play and Prior's illness progress, Louis becomes unable to cope with the emotional stress and moves out. Meanwhile, closeted homosexual Mormon and Republican Joe Pitt, a law clerk in the same judge's office where Louis holds a clerical job, is offered a major job opportunity by his mentor, the McCarthyist lawyer Roy Cohn. Joe doesn't immediately take the job because he feels he has to check with his Valium-addicted, agoraphobic wife, Harper, who is unwilling to move. Roy is himself deeply closeted, and soon discovers that he has AIDS.

Andrew Russell Garfield (born 20 August 1983) is an English-American actor. Born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Epsom, Surrey, Garfield began his career on the UK stage and in television productions. He made his feature film debut in the 2007 ensemble drama Lions for Lambs. Garfield first came to international attention in 2010 with supporting roles in the drama films The Social Network, for which he was highly praised and received Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations, and Never Let Me Go, for which he received a Saturn Award and a BAFTA nomination.
His performance as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in the superhero film The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), a reboot of the Spider-Man film series, was well received. Garfield reprised his role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which was released in 2014. He has also performed on stage, and played Biff in the 2012 Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, co-starring Philip Seymour Hoffman. Garfield's performance earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play. Garfield also stars in 99 Homes, a film he produced, and Martin Scorsese's Silence.
An angel is a purely spiritual being found in various religions and mythologies. In Abrahamic religions and Zoroastrianism, angels are often depicted as benevolent celestial beings who act as intermediaries between God or Heaven and Earth, or as guardian spirits or a guiding influence. Other roles of angels include protecting and guiding human beings, and carrying out God's tasks. The term "angel" has also been diversed to various notions of spirits or figures found in many other religious traditions. The theological study of angels is known as "angelology".
In art, angels are often depicted with bird-like wings on their back, a halo, robes and various forms of glowing light.
The word angel (pronounced /ˈeɪn.dʒəl/) in English is a blend of Old English engel (with a hard g) and Old French angele. Both derive from Late Latin angelus "messenger", which in turn was borrowed from Late Greek ἄνγελος ángelos. According to R. S. P. Beekes, ángelos itself may be "an Oriental loan, like ἄγγαρος ['Persian mounted courier']." The word's earliest form is Mycenaean a-ke-ro attested in Linear B syllabic script.
"America" is an American political advertisement released by the 2016 presidential campaign of Bernie Sanders. It premiered on January 21, 2016 via YouTube, and to air on television in Iowa and New Hampshire shortly before the Democratic Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary.
The advertisement features "America," a song recorded by Simon & Garfunkel for their album Bookends (1968).
The ad starts with scenes of everyday American life over soft humming and gentle guitar strumming. As the line, "let us be lovers, we'll marry our fortunes together" plays in the background, a middle-aged couple dances at a small Bernie Sanders for President rally. Then Sanders is seen speaking to a few people in a backyard. As the ad continues, the crowds grow larger and more enthusiastic. A montage of many Sanders supporters appear, as the words "They've all come to look for America" flash on the screen. Sanders is then seen addressing a large outdoor gathering, interacting one-on-one with supporters, appearing before more energetic crowds, finally ending in a large auditorium filled to capacity with cheering people.

From Lorna's website: "I have been seeing and talking with Angels since I was a baby. This may sound extraordinary, but I'm also just an ordinary person dealing with the challenges and joys of everyday life, just like you. I live in rural Ireland. I'm a mother with four children, who are now largely reared. I was widowed some years ago and now I am finally doing what the Angels have been asking me to do for several years and talking openly for the first time about what I have seen and learned from them."
people dying from lonely days
were walking and trying to take our souls away
Were just spending out our time angels in America slapping on a dime
Slide here for me
get these chains away and I'm never quite free
she walks like she is on a line
angels in America trying to get things done
All on a bad day
all on a run way..
She says IM OK.
Bright lights shine in midnight
he's dying for his children looking for his life
she wonders why she's got to die?
angels in America trying to hard to fly
this time well make it on or own
The forces are teeming and the guns are coming low
