For so many of us, it was the Youth Defence billboard campaign in 2012 that pushed us towards abortion rights activism. Years later we are members of pro choice organisations like the Abortion Rights Campaign, AIMS Ireland, ROSA, The Coalition to Repeal the 8th, Parents/Doctors/Midwives/Nurses for choice etc. These billboards advertising the March for Choice are a welcome sight for sore eyes.

We are strong, organised and passionate people. We should all be proud of the progress we have made together, but be under no illusions - we must continue to push for the broadest possible access to abortion lest we leave people behind. Bad laws make for hard cases.

Join the 6th Annual March for Choice, assembling St the Garden of Rembrance @ 1.30 on Saturday September 30th.

Abortion Rights Campaign

Our March for Choice posters are up in 16 train stations across Ireland! Have you spotted them yet?

This is a huge moment for us, it shows just how far we've co...me to finally be able to run such a high-visibility national advertising campaign. It's thanks to your donations and support that we're able to reach more people than ever before. Join us for the 6th Annual March for Choice 30th Sept!

When ARC was founded in 2012, people seeking abortions had to see misleading anti-choice billboards every day. Whilst we continue to fight the stigma around abortion, and to campaign for accessibility so that nobody has to leave Ireland to access basic healthcare, now people travelling will see these billboards instead and know that they are supported by a strong community campaigning for their rights.

If you can't take the day off work, there are many other ways to participate in the #strike4repeal. We're seeing photos of solidarity actions coming in from all over the country and indeed, the world. Thanks to the committed and hard working activists who organised activities in Ireland and all across the globe.

See you on the bridge.

Tomorrow, #Strike4Repeal

Strike 4 Repeal

The paint is drying on placards around the world, lightning bolts are being cut out of every material that can be laid hands on and the final knots are being ti...ed to banners.

As we prepare to take to the streets tomorrow we think of all the reasons we strike for repeal. We strike for Ms X, for A, B and C, for Ms Y and Ms C. We strike for Sheila Hodgers and Savita Halappanavar. We strike for the 150,000 that have had an abortion since the 8th was introduced. We strike because, unlike the state, we refuse to stand idly by as lives are put at risk.

Tomorrow, on international women's day March 8th, where will you be? #strike4repeal

This guy presented on behalf of 'Women Hurt' at the Citizens' Assembly this weekend. We're not suggesting you follow the link, simply highlighting the calibre of anti-choice people invited to address the Assembly.

As an OB/GYN who performed roughly 1,200 abortions in the early part of my career, I can tell you that the majority of Americans — whether they call themselves pro-life or pro-choice — really don’t know what happens to a child in the womb during an abortion, or how developed that child really is. Abortion Rights Campaign

100 years ago, the signatories of the Irish proclamation declared a land of “equal rights and equal opportunities” for all the people of Ireland, but this Repub...lic has failed to live up to their ideals. We have been fighting for equal rights and equal opportunities since the birth of our conservative Catholic nation. We have made some progress but in 2016, 100 years on, the equality promised in the proclamation hasn’t been realised. Women, trans men and non-binary people who may need to access abortion in Ireland, North and South, still don’t have the right to choose.

We wouldn't normally share an Irish Catholic article but a throwaway quote at the end of this caught our eye. The article is "TDs are ‘obsessed’ with Church’s abortion stance – Leo Varadkar"

We're fairly shocked that Fine Gael TD's have not taken time to consider the 8th amendment considering bills to repeal it have arisen 3 times in the last 6 months. Minister Varadkar himself has spoken against the 8th Amendment so we find this pretty shocking.

Have Iona had their account hijacked?! They're claiming that surrogacy will devalue women and make them 'wombs for use'.

“Iona are giving out about people seeing women as "wombs for use" and now I'm a ghost because I died laughing.”
