A national consultative forum has brought together participants from across the country for a multi-stakeholder dialogue on diversity and national unity within Ethiopia’s federal system.
The grant is part of a wider five-year project on Promoting Sustainable Rural Energy Technologies (RETs) for Household and Productive Use and is in line with the global Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) initiative. It also complements national priorities, such as those encompassed within the Ethiopia’s energy policy as well as climate resilient green economy strategy.
The UNDP programme, Enhancing Livelihood Restoration and Resilience of Refugee Hosting Communities and Internally Displaced Peoples, is implemented with 1.5 million USD financial support of the Government of Japan to respond to the restoration and peaceful co-existence of refugee and host communities. The intervention seeks to help refugee hosting communities to cope with the environmental, economic and social impact of hosting a large influx of refugees.
UNDP signed a USD 500,000 project to continue its support to the Ethiopia Peace Support Training Centre (EPSTC) with the financial support of the Government of Japan. The newly signed fund will be used to primarily strengthen the institutional and human capacity of the centre for provision of training, transfer of skills and expertise to future peacekeeping practitioners.
National Planning Commission and the UN in Ethiopia hosted a one-day stakeholders’ dialogue to promote increased engagement in Ethiopia on the monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes around the Sustainable Development Goal 16.
The European Union and United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) have launched a three-year project to address the drivers of conflict and instability, irregular migration and displacement in the cross-border areas of the Horn of Africa through improved cross-border coordination and cooperation.
The Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Achim Steiner and the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock concluded a three-day joint mission to Ethiopia by urging all stakeholders to increase cooperation to withstand humanitarian and climate-related crises.
