    I watched “Roots” in the ’70s & saw Kunta Kinte & Belle’s daughter, Kizzy, taken from them by her new owner. Reading & seeing “Roots” was my 1st real exposure to that part of our history. Now I’ve learned that also happened to Native Americans. It’s happening now to .

    This is my great-grandmother. She immigrated to America (Ellis Island) from Italy when she was 13, unaccompanied by her parents. What a courageous young woman she was. I’m proud to be named after her 💗
