    I am dubious the institution of law enforcement can be reformed but at least I share the common ground position of "problems exist" with reformists. I almost had the pleasure of thinking the "uniform demands respect" types were going extinct.

    Abuses of authority by police are so widely available for anyone who takes a moment to look for them so I'm still shocked when I encounter "how dare u question them!!!" types like, the *middle* of the overton window is reform

    So long as everyone is feeling scandalized by ICE purposely and needlessly separating parents from their children, I just thought I’d point out: that’s exactly what prosecutors do every day in criminal court in every locality in America, often for the tiniest offenses.

    We blocked 16k + trolls in our 4ish month existence, & 70% were American. And combined with American Evangelicals coming to campaign, American money flooding in. & now thousand of American trolls targetting Irish activists.

    Let's look at that same data in a slightly different way by roughly grouping the timezones by continent. Accounts created in Europe only account for 27.3% of all accounts blocked by shield while accounts in the Americas count for 70.4%.

    And the prosecution's strategy for doing this is to argue that protest infrastructure practiced across the entire country "aids and abets" any crimes that occur during the protest, providing an avenue to charge *everyone* in a protest for the actions of *anyone* in the protest.

    The prosecution is essentially trying to cover the Metropolitan Police Department's backside by criminalizing litigants (both current and potential) in a police brutality lawsuit stemming from their bad behaviour on inauguration day.
