Submission of State Reports
In accordance with Article 62 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights, States Parties to the Charter are required to submit every two years, a report on the legislative or other measures taken, with a view to giving effect to the rights and freedoms recognised and guaranteed by the Charter.
The following Initial/Periodic State reports have been submitted to the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights as per Article 62, and are hereby made public in accordance with Rule 74 of the Rules of Procedure of the African Commission:

Public Consultation on the Draft Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Citizens to Social Protection and Social Security
The Working Group on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in Africa and the Working Group on Rights of Older Persons and People with Disabilities, special mechanisms of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (the African Commission), working in collaboration with the African Union Commission, have developed the Draft Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Citizens to Social Protection and Social Security in accordance with the African Union Executive Council Decision EX.CL.876 (XXVII) of 01 June 2015.
The Draft Protocol has been developed following a series of expert meetings and is currently undergoing a consultative process.
As part of the consultative process, the Working Groups invite all stakeholders to forward their inputs on the Draft Protocol to the African Commission by close of business on Monday 11 June 2018. This draft can be found using the link below, to the English, French, Portuguese and Arabic versions.

Call for contributions to the Draft Study on Protecting Human Rights in Conflict and Crisis Situations: Revitalizing the Role of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR/Res. 332)
During its 19th Extra-Ordinary Session held in Banjul, the Gambia from 16 to 25 February 2016, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (the Commission) adopted ACHPR/Res. 332 (EXT.OS/XIX) 2016 (http://www.achpr.org/sessions/19th-eo/resolutions/332/), mandating Commissioner Solomon Ayele Dersso as Focal Point to, inter alia, conduct a Study on Human Rights in Conflict Situations in Africa, with a view to developing a comprehensive strategy and framework on the same.
The Commission further invites all stakeholders to provide inputs on the Draft Study, available on the link below, by sending contributions to the Secretariat of the African Commission by email to au-banjul@africa-union.org, idowu-ojoa@africa-union.org and boshoffe@africa-union.org by 15 June 2018.
