Police allege men forced teen into van at knifepoint
Two men have been charged after after a teenager was allegedly kidnapped in Cairns on Sunday evening.
The 17-year-old boy was in a shopping centre car park at Redlynch when two men, known to the teen, approached him in a van about 10pm, police will allege.
The teen was allegedly punched and threatened with a knife before he was forced into the van and told to take the men to a nearby residence, where he was released about 15 minutes later.
Police managed to stop the van just after 11pm and charged two men, aged 25 and 27, with one count of kidnapping.
The 27-year-old was also charged with one count each of serious assault of a person over 60, wilful damage and stealing following investigations into an alleged assault in Cairns CBD last month.
Both men were due to face Cairns Magistrates Court.
