I learned so much. Is modern witchcraft a means of re-enchanting the world? Or is it still weighed down by history — from the witch hunts of medieval Europe and the Salem witch trials in 1690s Massachusetts, to the wicked witch of contemporary popular culture?

The first show I saw was Smashing Pumpkins at the Hordern, 1996. Def FX was in support and I will never forget stalking out with huge blonde dreads and knee length platform boots. I met her just last week - to talk about modern witchcraft.

"We are quite involved and concerned about the things happening in our society," said event organiser Douglas Lee. "Some people believe we Christians shouldn't be involved in politics, but what we care about is the people themselves."

Do you really think Charles I would have read a bible which included a wombat and not demanded that one be added to the Royal Memagerie!

So, there I was looking at a 1633 Book of Common Prayer (as you do) and I found these fabulous “wombats”. I might be having trouble convincing my colleagues of this fantastic find. Will somebody please back me up? ? Anybody?

Just heard a report on from New Delhi where it was 48C. Street kids fighting each other for water; labourers dropping dead where they worked; desperate wildlife gasping for a drink. A terrifying future.

On 16 June, 75 years ago, the gestapo dragged twenty-six members of the French Resistance into a darkened field between villages. As they were organized into small groups for the firing squad, a 16 year old boy wept, asking if it would hurt. This man was beside him. 1/x

ABC managing director is musing in the paper about how to diversify ABC panel shows. I have quite a radical suggestion for getting people from more diverse and/or marginalised people on your panel shows, as opposed to salaried experts. Fucking pay us. PAY THE PANELISTS.
