The Government of Japan has generously contributed another US$ 1 million to UNDP Iran.
Annually, since 2014, Japan has been providing a grant of US$ 1 million to UNDP supporting their efforts to contribute to the restoration of Lake Urmia.

The project main target is to phase-down and ultimately phase-out the use in Iran of HCFCs to comply with the Montreal Protocol’s controlling targets through a harmonized national strategy.
The goal of the project is to enhance the sustainability of Iran’s wetland protected areas and conserve its globally significant biodiversity
Iran was the 54th country that joined the GEF and it has recently finished the GEF5 funding phase and is starting GEF6.
