The summer of 1980 saw the release of this hugely popular coming of age comic drama "Little Darlings'. The film showcased the talents of Academy Award Winning actress Tatum O'Neal ("Paper Moon") and inparticular Kristy McNichol (of television's "Family"), who turns in a particularly remarkable performance. Two girls one rich Ferris Whitney (Tatum O'Neal), and the other streetwise Aggel Bright (Kristy McNichol), strike a bet while away at summer camp. Whoever loses their virginity first......wins $100.00. Matt Dillon (in his second big screen role), plays McNichol's love interest. Armand Assante plays a counselor and the target of O'Neal's. Music rights are most likely the culprit in the failure of this rare film's release on DVD. It remains up in the air as to if and when this will ever be released. Look for a very young Cynthia Nixon from "Sex in the City" as "Sunshine" the teenage hippie with the long blonde hair. I hope you enjoy this tribute to "Little Darlings".

Here is a delicate song, chosen to enhance the mysterious beauty of aristocratic French actress Stéphane Audran, who could be called the French Faye Dunaway. Stéphane Audran (born Colette Suzanne Dacheville in 1932 in Versailles, France) is a French film and television actress, known for her performances in Oscar winning movies such as "Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie" ("The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie") (1972) and "Babettes Gaestebud" ("Le festin de Babette", "Babette's Feast") (1987) and in critically acclaimed films like "The Big Red One" (1980) and "Violette Nozière" (1978). She married French director and screenwriter Claude Chabrol in 1964, after a short marriage to the French actor Jean-Louis Trintignant. Her first major role was in Chabrol's film "Les cousins" (1959). She has since appeared in most of Chabrol's films (she has made twenty-one films with him - "L'œil du Malin" [1962] was her first starred part). Some of the more noteworthy of his films Audran has appeared in are "Les bonnes femmes" (1960), "La femme infidèle" (1968), "Les biches" (1968) as a rich lesbian who becomes involved in a ménage à trois (she first gained notice in this), "Le boucher" (1970) as a school teacher who falls in love with a murderous butcher, "Juste avant la nuit" (1971), and "Violette Nozière" (1978). She won the Silver Bear for Best Actress for her role in "Les biches" at the 18th Berlin International Film Festival. She has also appeared in the first film of Éric Rohmer ("Signe du lion"), Jean Delannoy ("La peau de Torpédo"), Gabriel Axel ("Babettes Gaestebud", as the mysterious cook, Babette), Bertrand Tavernier ("Coup de torchon", as the wife of the cop turned serial killer, Lucien Cordier) and Samuel Fuller ("The Big Red One"). The most celebrated of her non-Chabrol films was Luis Buñuel's Oscar-winning "Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie" (1972) as Alice Sénéchal. Also appearing in English-language productions, Audran has appeared in American movies, like "The Black Bird" (1975), and in TV serials like "Brideshead Revisited" (1981), "Mistral's Daughter" (1984) and "The Sun Also Rises" (1984). Audran won a France's César Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in "Violette Nozière" and British Film Academy award for "Just Before Nightfall" (1975). At the height of her popularity just after "The Blue Lagoon", Brooke Shields starred in "Endless Love", an adaptation of Scott Spencer's best selling novel of the same name. Directed by Franco Zefferelli ("Romeo & Juliet"), the film was poised to be a huge success. Unfortunately it was only moderately successful and remains unreleased on DVD in the U.S.. The story of a 17 year old man (Martin Hewitt) in love with a 15 year old (Brook Shields) is quite powerful and though many who loved the book did not like this film version, everyone else (sans critics) love it! The theme song from the film sung by Lionel Richie & Diana Ross was (and still is), one of the biggest hits ever produced. Tom Cruise, James Spader & Ian Ziering all made their major motion picture debuts in the film as well (and all 3 can be seen in this tribute). I hope you enjoy it!

Inspired by The Clash and militant Soul music the Redskins burnt brightly in the 1980s. They raged against capitalism with fire, passion and revolutionary politics. The 1984-5 miners strike was the pinnacle of their power, playing benefit gigs, appearing on TV and raising support for the strikers. This ten minute tribute brings together the best of their songs, videos and interviews. The Redskins are gone but their legacy lives on with a message much needed today. Radical culture is a crucial component for any movement for mass social change. Thanks and solidarity to all the musicians and filmmakers who made this tribute possible. The first film to be released in the decade of the 1980's was the highly controversial "Windows". It starred Talia Shire (of "Rocky" and "The Godfather" fame) and Elizabeth Ashley. Directed by Gordon Willis; the Academy Award winning cinematographer of "The Godfather", the film promised to be an interesting one. Surrounded by controversy due to the portrayal of the lesbian character in the film, and also for the violence at the beginning (during the rape scene), the film garnered some of the worst reviews in the history of cinema. It's actually a pretty good, though somewhat disturbing thriller with excellent shots of New York and superb cinematography.
