The hemispheric long wave pattern has remained stable in recent weeks. There are five main troughs. Currently the most significant troughs are near the longitudes of South Africa, the Indian Ocean, New Zealand, the southeast Pacific, and South America.
Summary:
Over southern and eastern Australia the cold front events with potential to bring widespread rain are now expected about 28 May to 1 June, 1 June to 5 June, and 7 June to 11 June. Rain events originating in the tropics and moving south are possible about 15 May to 19 May, 19 May to 23 May, and 29 May to 2 June. Over Western Australia the strongest cold fronts should occur about 23 May to 27 May, 2 June to 6 June, and 6 June to 10 June.
