One of the really good abstractions Akka brings to the table is Actors, which allows you to write concurrent code but without much of the pain doing so compared to writing your code using threads and locks.

Developing concurrent and/or distributed applications often involves choosing between productivity and scalability: do I use easy-to-understand paradigms that don't provide maximal throughput, or do I create complex and fast code that's difficult to understand and maintain? This session introduces Akka, which was designed to eliminate the need to make this choice by adopting the actor concurrency model found in other languages such as Erlang and bringing it to the JVM. It is designed to both scale up (by using multiple cores or CPUs on a single machine) and out (by distributing work among multiple VMs) and to support both via configuration and automatic VM clustering rather than code changes. It is also open source, under the Apache V2 license.

Soufiane Touzani
Soufiane Touzani (born 27 October 1986) is a Dutch freestyle football player and television host from Rotterdam. He introduced new football tricks and because of this he became the pioneer of modern Freestyle football. In 2005 he uploaded a video on YouTube and this became an international success with millions of views. The video also caught the attention of Electronic Arts (EA Games) and they asked him to perform the tricks for the PlayStation game Fifa Street. Famous football players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie watched his videos. Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar even performed some of his tricks: Touzani Around the World and a trick called “New Shit”. His popularity rose and because of that he received invitations from several countries to show his tricks. He performed worldwide and the pinnacle was a performance with Ronaldinho in a full San Siro Stadium.
Television
Besides playing football Soufiane also has another passion, presenting. The TROS, which is a big television network in the Netherlands, approached him to present the program Z@ppsport. This is a program on national television for children.

Plot: Pranali relates her story to U.S.-based Judy, starting with her birth in an impoverished village near the Karnataka and Maharashtra border where families are forced to eat mice. The Mahant spots her during 1996 and compels her to wed 'Dev' and become a Devdasi. Her mother protests, but her father overturns all objections and presents his daughter to this outlawed practice. Young and unknowing, she is forced to be intimate with the Mahant and then sold to a politician for 20 acres of land. Before she could be molested, she manages to escape, files a police complaint, only to be sent to a Nari Ashram where wealthy males and politicians seek sexual favors. Then during 2003, she is then sold to Akka, a brothel-owner at Laxmi Nagar, Mumbai. It is here she will meet and befriend several other prostitutes including Chanda, Shakila, and Kanchi. Shortly thereafter she becomes pregnant, and despite Akka's advice for an abortion, decides to keep the baby, a girl she subsequently names Roshni. While she continues to make a living in squalid, unhealthy conditions, she faces challenges after she goes to secure school admission for her daughter - a move that will pit her against goons, politicians, and corrupt police.
