Press Statement issued by BJP National Spokesperson, Dr. Sambit Patra

When the names of black money holders were declared by the Central Govt. on the floor of the Supreme Court, Congress Spokesperson, Mr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi had quoted a Hindi couplet “खोदा पहाड़ निकली चुहिया“..... Meaning "A mountain was dug just to obtain a mice". But today we can say that "Mountain" of Mr. Singhvi's personal corruption has been exposed. The Income Tax Settlement Commission has come up with shocking revelations. This is a classic expression of how Black Money is being generated in India, and that too by non-other than tall leaders of the Congress.

• The Settlement Commission has added about Rs. 92 Crores to the professional income of Mr. Singhvi over a period of three years. Why was Mr. Singhvi not declaring this income?
• The Commission has slapped a penalty of 56.75 Crores.
• In a short time frame between 15 Jan 2011 to 31^st March, 2011 there has been substantial increase in payments to legal assistance.
• In this short span of about 2½ months about 18199 vouchers were signed by Mr. Singhvi.
• On a single day, 31 March 2011, about 1207 vouchers were signed.
• All these are self made vouchers. No authentic bills have been procured.
• On 28^th Feb. 2012, Five crores has been spend on laptops given to legal assistants. Mr. Singhvi's salary sheet shows that he had employed 14 advocates/professionals to assists him, he would have to purchase 1250 laptops (Each costing Rs. 40,000) to account for the amount under the head.
• Mr. Singhvi claimed that he spent Rs. 35.98 cr. on purchase of Solar Panel for his company. The Commission finds that the transaction was mainly intended at Tax evasion by inflating the cost of the panels. The owner of the company which sold the Solar Panels & whose premises were searched by the Income Tax Dept. also agreed to the fact that Rs 10 crore was to be repaid to Singhvi in form of a loan to his sons.
• The Commission has exposed the "BOGUS PAYMENTS" made by Mr. Singhvi during the three year tenure of 2011-13, several cheques payments made by the Mr. Singhvi (To the tune of 10.97 crores) were found non-verifiable.
• Mr. Singhvi has no document to back these expenses. He says that the documents were eaten away by termites. Sadly those who destroyed the economy of the country acting as "Corrupt Termites" are trying to shift the blame to the "Poor Real Termites".
• Mr. Singhvi cannot hide behind the excuse of "Legal Malaise" as the whole investigation stated during the regime of Sh Pranab Mukherjee continued through Mr. Chidambaram's period and only the results are out today.

This is only the tip of the Ice Berg. The country is well aware of the fact that many tall leaders of Congress have stashed Black Money not only abroad but also at home. Law will surely take its course but will Congress punish Mr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi ?
